80's party, need help with hair and accessories please

A friend is having an 80's themed party on Saturday. I have bought a vintage 80s black cocktail dress - it is quite lovely and if gigantic shoulder pads ever come back in I might even wear it again one day.

But I don't really know how to do my hair. I was 17 at the end of the 80s but I was really quite boring, style-wise. I still am in fact. I have rarely styled my hair in any way. And I need a grown-up-party type 80s hairstyle. My hair is a couple of inches below shoulder length with a few layers.

Any thoughts? Thank you!

Yes big bows were popular, usually in colour matching tights and mascara and court shoes so electric blue or brightish jade green or magenta....
or BIG hair a la Bananarama

But how does she make her ponytail stand up like that?

The crimp-and-bow looks possible, I think I could do that. Maybe the kids will plait my hair for me, I think they would enjoy that.

It will be fun. I just hope I haven't completely misjudged it and everyone else is going to be dressed as Madonna or Cyndi Lauper. And I will be there channelling Joan Collins.
