Serum?Illuminator?Skin enhancer?

I am completely at sea here.Just reading the Red skin care winners.... Serum/illuminator/primer?Skin enhancer?What is the difference and how the heck do you use them?

There will be some proper make up people along shortly - but I must say that I tried some Maybelline primer that was in a free sachet in a magazine, and it is fantastic. Pores - what pores? Only thing is, it's silicone based and my glasses just slide down my nose now.

Primer I know.A new discovery .I use Bare Minerals primer .I am intrigued about all the others though.Usually I use it without the makeup as I haven't time to do the Bare Minerals layering.I was prowling for a quicker alternative when reading the article.
