Wedding shoe misery

I am getting married in less than a month (hurrah!) and am very thankful to have dress, flowers, etc already sorted, but am having a lot of misery over my shoes.

I am not a high heel person anyway and will be just over 6 months pregnant at the wedding, so that means I really need a low heel I can stand and walk in comfortably.

My dress is just below knee length and is ivory, (will probably wear nude tights) and the colour of shoes I thought would go best with this would be biscuit/beige colour....but it seems to be impossible to find anything like this in the shops at the moment. Lots of shoes that colour with HUGE platform heels or stilettos, but I can't walk in those!

I found a couple of really comfortable pairs in good old M&S which I can definitely stand and walk around in, but one is a much darker tan shade, and the other a dark brown suede.

Does anyone think I could get away with dark brown shoes with nude tights and an ivory dress? Or will it just look weird? (I will have a pair of ballet pump style shoes to change into later on, either way, and there seems to be plenty of choice there, luckily).

What colour are your flowers?
I ask because you could pick a dramatic colour from in your bouquet and get shoes in that colour. Or find lovely shoes that fit all the criteria and match some flowers to them?

Don't you fancy ivory shoes?

guinealady · 09/01/2012 18:28

Don't fancy ivory shoes, no...sorry, I had meant to add that. I am going to 2 other weddings soon after so I'd ideally like a pair I can wear again. (plus ivory shoes I've seen are all very stiletto-y or strappy sandals - and it's a February wedding!)

My bouquet is all white and hyacinth blue to fit in with the time of year - I have seen some awesome teal blue shoes but not quite the right colour.

Did also consider going for pale grey shoes with grey/silvery tights but again it's very hard to find a pair that are the right colour and also right heel height!

I got some gold ones from l k Bennett they were gorgeous with my dress and only had 2 inch kitten heel

I keep saying on here that Rachel Simpson do the nicest shoes - but they really do www.rachelsimpsonshoes.co.uk

There are some lovely low heels that you could wear again. They are a bit expensive, but worth it IMO. I don't stock any other brand because they are lovely. Also love the idea of leather & suede wedding shoes - not a big fan of satin myself.

Grey tights sound like they might make you look a bit corpse-like... I don't think that colour flatters anyone tbh. I would go nude fishnets and whatever colour shoe takes your fancy.

The Rachel Simpson shoes are all lovely but again most of the heels are too stiletto-y - I just can't wear them! Something like 'Iris' would be perfect if the heels were not so narrow...and it was a bit cheaper :(

These ones are nice in champagne metallic leather in the outlet store - www.rsoutlet.co.uk/stock.php?item_id=500&query_string=pfrom=0&pto=60

Lovely but not in my size...will take a look at the rest, though, an outlet shop might just be my saving grace! Thanks emsjy

your other choice would be to get some white/ivory shoes and dye them to the colour you want.
These will dye certain ranges of their shoes for you.
