i got all excited at the prospect of a new coat but on the great plains thread it seems a few people have been disappointed with the fit of this coat....

has anyone received one and liked it?

cheers!

I was worried about the popper buttons - would I be popping open all over the place...

Would love to know if these hold ample bosom inside :)

ThatVikRinA22 · 09/01/2012 13:39

popper buttons?? i missed that. oh well, i think judging from the comments on the fit of it it may be going back but i was thinking if i got in fast enough i could just cancel it off the order....

would love to know though if anyone has got one and has been happy with it?

I'm waiting for mine to arrive < anxious >.
i'm sure it was buttoned up in the photo - are we talking about the same one, either black or pale grey, £54?

snowmaiden · 10/01/2012 11:05

I have ordered this too, and just looked at my confirmation email and realized I have ordered TWO by mistake- I ordered so many things I didn't even notice that the prices was £54 more than it should have been, will cost me a fortune to send them both back as well, I expect!

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/01/2012 15:46

mine has been dispatched so i will see, yep thats the one whatswrong...

Mine has arrived and.......I love it. I ordered an M and my two main worries were would the arms be long enough as I have monkey arms and about the popper buttons, as had failed to notice this until I read this thread!

Arms are lovely and long and the poppers seem very strong. The bit under the bust is slightly higher than I would like but nothing drastic. Overall think it's great for the money. Grin

WhatsWrongWithYule · 11/01/2012 16:52

Mine arrived too - I somehow managed to order two of the buggers!
Agree waistline is high, which unfortunately makes me look a lot more rotund than I am, and makes my boobs look as if they're trying to join my waist.

The neckline, collar and shoulders are gorgeous, and it's a lovely soft pale grey colour. Think I'll have to take some pics of myself in it to get an objective view.

snowmaiden · 11/01/2012 18:49

My coats came too !

Have put a pic of me wearing it on my profile- i actualy quite like it, would appreciate an objective opinion. It is slightly snug on me but ok, especially as I want to lose about a stone.

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/01/2012 19:42

i think i might return mine but im just not sure - it is good value for money but the shoulders look big on me, it fastens fine, but feels a bit odd - the waist feels high....and when i stretch my arms forward it feels sort of tight, yet it fastens fine with a jumper dress under it, but from the very high waist it looks very flared....im sure its meant to flatter but im just not sure it does on me, looks wonderful when not fastened!

might just try it again tomorrow - DD thought it was nice but im just not sure

I sent mine back. I think it might look nice on someone with a very narrow rib cage and chest, but on me it looked weird and uncomfortable. It fitted fine across the back and shoulders, so I don't think the size was wrong, but it was constraining around the ribs and the side view sort of stuck out from front to back and made me look massively thick tummied.

WhatsWrongWithYule · 11/01/2012 21:44

That's exactly how mine looked from the side - the pleat started too high b/cause of where the waist sits, which expanded me where I'm usually quite slim.
I'm an hourglass shape, with proportionately slightly wider hips, and it just doesn't seem to flatter me. I do have a narrow ribcage, but the G cups bulge out at the front, which looks worse due to thr high waist. < overthinks >
Snowmaiden, you haven't shown a side view, but it looks nice from the front. You look as if you've got a smooth line without being distorted by excess boobage!
Dresses look good as well.

cheesesarnie · 11/01/2012 21:49

snowmaiden-its lovely but hides youre frankly blardy amazing figure!!!!!!
wheres the dress at the top from?i love it

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/01/2012 21:51

all yours looks lovely snowmaiden and i am especially Envy of the birdy dress....mine looks horrific! i would scare small children in mine.....i got a L but its just too massive up top.

my coat however looks the same as yours on, (i got the black though) but i just dont think it feels comfortable.....DD loves it but ive seen a similar coat for just a little more in M&S which i might go and try on....

on balance i think i will send my coat back. But yours looks lovely. everything on you looks lovely - am very envious! im a short arsed size 14 (sometimes a 12 if its a dress or skirt) with C cup boobs....i am however working on it with WW!

Thankyou, I think it looked ok from the side, I wonder if it is because I am naturally high waisted that the coat sits on my natural waist line and so looks ok.

WhatsWrongWithYule · 11/01/2012 21:57

Could be.
Any chance of a link to the M&S coat Vicar?
< now desperate for a new coat, having come so close >

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/01/2012 22:06

yep...
this one - it looks better on the video

looks more fitted and shapely on the 'view video' link. id have to see it in the flesh i think...cant be chewed ordering online in case its not right.

also someone else linked me this one at hobbs....
though a bit more money

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYule · 11/01/2012 22:26

They're bot nice esp the Hobbs one - looks a much more fitted, feminine shape, which I love.
Can't do black, though.

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/01/2012 22:49

M&S do an identical one to the black one linked in light grey if thats any good.

i want a black one.
