Fancy wedding - dress for 2-3yr old AND 7-8yr old

Hi all;
anyone fancy helping me find a dress for both my daughters for a scarily posh fancy wedding in London in mid-Feb?

It will be the swankiest thing I've ever been to, probably. I am wearing a ballgown as long as I diet enough to fit into it. My 7 year old has a overwhelming desire to 'match' her little sister.

We are spending most of our holiday budget this year getting down to London and paying for hideously expensive hotel rooms, so I need to find something cheap-ish but very swish... I've been looking online at Debenhams etc but things on sale don't have the right sizes!!

We live in deepest darkest Wales so can't really get to many shops - the nearest Next/Debenhams etc is about an hour and a half away, so we really need to internet shop. Anyone got any ideas???

I've been looking at dresses that are £20-£30 in the sales. I am a rubbish shopper at the best of times so any suggestions will be gratefully received!

How about Monsoon? My DD is only 1 and hasn't needed a fancy dress yet, but if I did I'd want one from there! Although prices a little steep...

monsson ?

fluffywhitekittens · 08/01/2012 20:22

Monsoon, even, maybe a bit expensive? Are you on Facebook, it's worth looking on local selling sites and asking as someone may have what you need.

LittlePandaBear · 08/01/2012 20:28

John Lewis?

DharmaBumpkin · 08/01/2012 21:02

Thanks! I hadn't looked at Monsoon and they've got a couple of really nice dresses that are just within budget!

fluffywhitekittens, suspect that having to have the same dress in two sizes would rule out local swaps unfortunately!

LittlePandaBear I really like that dress you linked to :)

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Clearance/Girls-Dresses/33169-GRY/Girls-Silver-Grey-Sparkly-Party-Dress.html in Boden clearance if your 2-3 yo could manage with a size 3-4.

Sorry I don't know how to hotlink on my phone.

We bought some stuff for ds for a wedding. Great quality, great service and very fairly priced I think. Nice to support a small business too.
Have a lovely time at the wedding. How exciting, I would love to dress up in a ball gown and stay in a swanky hotel EnvySmile

You can sometimes get Monsoon on ebay at lower prices, in a variety of sizes if you try.

There are some lovely ones on the Poppy website - and there is a sale on too www.poppychildren.co.uk

I don't think they go up to age 7/8 though, looks like the biggest size is age 6/7.

DharmaBumpkin · 08/01/2012 21:30

Hmm, the Boden stuff was either the right price and not flash enough, or vice versa!

M&S dresses are like Debenhams, the two girls span the age ranges so it's really hard to get something to fit both. That outfit is nice Waswondering but wouldn't be big enough for my oldest. Agree about the tights but!

Will try ebay too... Might be tomorrow though!
