A warm, wool, roll neck - please suggest where I can find one

I want something wool - probably not cashmere and not a 'skinny' fitted number. Have looked at Pure but am not overly fussed on the colours. Have Boden Everyday Rollneck from last year and it's a cotton-wool mix so not that warm. Any ideas pls?

Thanks

Uniqlo sometimes have marino roll necks.

Bluestocking · 07/01/2012 10:26

Lands End have some.

Some of the Zara roll necks are really warm though they're mainly wool-poly mix. The John Lewis cashmere roll necks are really warm and not fitted (though I realise you said probably not cashmere) If you go with Uniqlo size up to get something not too fitted. Their heat tech tops are well worth the money for under jumpers. I wear a heat tech, roll neck then coat & have been warm enough in cold temperatures this winter.

Uniqlo! They're doing their lambswool roll necks in the sale at the moment and they're soft and lovely. Very flattering neck on them too.

Someone on S&B this week recommended Woolovers

Uniqlo soft lambswool roll neck - £12.90 in the sale, 100% wool (it's a lambswool/merino mix, mostly lambswool)

Gosh, loads of replies - thanks! The Uniglo jumpers look great value and I'm tempted to order one but they say dry clean only. I wonder how they'd fare in the machine Hmm? John Lewis, I've just spent twenty minutes going through ... some lovely jumpers there too. Shall look at Woolovers now and might just go back to Pure or even Brora to check them put again ... never mind whether it's cashmere/merino/lambswool!

I wash my Uniqlo jumpers in the machine on a cool wash with no problems. Worth a go at that price anyway - I just got one of those roll necks and I'm so pleased with it.

Pandsbear · 07/01/2012 16:13

And I hand wash my Uniqlo jumpers - all been fine.

Tenebrist · 07/01/2012 16:18

The Guardian website fashion section has a short video on polo necks today - the Uniqlo ones were recommended, as well as several from M+S and a few others.

dexter73 · 07/01/2012 19:13

I wash my Uniqlo jumpers (cashmere and wool) in the machine on a wool wash and they come out fine despite saying dry clean.

][http://www.woolovers.com/cashmere-merino/womens/ladies-slinky-polo-neck.aspx This one]] in 30% cashmere and 70% merino? There is a wide choice of colours.

I have never ordered their stuff but the company seems to have good reviews.

I cocked my link up...

I put my lovely grey cashmere-mix cable knit Uniqlo roll-neck in the washing machine by mistake and it shrank so much, even DD can barely get it on. I am taking a lot more care with my other Uniqlo roll-neck!

bigTillyMint · 07/01/2012 19:32

That Guardian woman doesn't know a thing about sportswear! Footballers wear base-layers under their kits, not GAP PNJ's Grin

Second vote for Woolovers. Currently got over 10 of their jumpers, some the merino/cashmere mix and some lambswool. All are washed at 30 degrees in the washing machine using the pink handwashing wool liquid soap (name escapes me) and dried flat, no problems at all. Great customer service, reasonable delivery charges and I can't fault the price at all!
