Lounge suit dress

Hi, I am attending an evening dinner where the dress code is "lounge suit". Easy enough for my husband, but what do I wear? I have tried google it but get so very mixed findings. Some say just to wear what you wear for work, others say it can be a bit more glam. Before we received the dresscode, I bought a dress but am now worried it is too dressy.:

and a bought this bolero to go with it:

Would you wear this or do you think it is too much?

I think it is probably a bit too dressy, though as you've discovered "lounge suit" can mean anything above jeans but below evening dress. Dress is lovely though - so I'd keep it for something else

I go to a fair few lounge suit type events for work and I think that looks fine. Just don't dress it up any further if you see what I mean - ie maybe opaque tights, discreet jewellery, not an up-do or especially 'done' hair.

I would dispense with the bolera though - that takes it up a notch. HAve you got just a smart tailored jacket you could put over the top - or even a very nice, well-made cashmere cardigan?

PS - meant to say: lovely frock, and what a bargain!

Good idea to change the bolero .... I will do that. It is a lovely dress and yes, a fantastic bargain !

Lovely dress, I agree with TSP's suggestions

I think yes to the dress but pair with a more workish black jacket. Keep the bolero though, it'll be nice for other things.

For lounge wear, I tend to wear a dressy work suit, with a nice top, or a knee length black dress.
