outfits for photos this weekend...

I'm having photos taken this weekend with my family and this will include some young glamorous types! Bearing in mind I am now not young except in my head and could not be construed as glamorous weep weep, I need some help to look halfway decent.
I am 5ft 8, brunette and a size 14.

No miracle diet / surgery will save me now, so I am relying on the help of MNetters to assist, and suggest some ideas for outfits that would make me look effortlessly polished and glamorous......

Thanks....

what do you feel good in? What colours suit you? What shape are you? What will everyone else wear?

chipandbiff · 05/01/2012 20:57

Generally I wear skinny / slim jeans, long boots and a top! Glamorous huh?!! Grin ...
Havent ever had my colours done (maybe something to conside for 2012?!) but I like dark blue jeans, and muted colurs for tops - soft grey, navy, camels, beige....
Pear shaped...
Everyone else in a mix of stuff....young glam types in beautiful glam clothes, (dresses? and also jeans and tops, but glam ones...) and others in jeans and T shirts?

Not sure whether to just go for a jeans & white (T) shirt combination???

i think everyone needs to agree on a dress code, jeans and a white tee sounds good but if everyone else is in glam dresses you are going to look out of place. Maybe take a dress with you and change if you feel underdressed. Wear more makeup than you usually would and some of these photo shoots make you take shoes and socks off so make sure you don't have chipped nail polish on your toes.

Ha!! thankyou!!! Smile
good advice re more make up than normal!! And my nails are the only parts of my body that could pass the glamour test. Hands and feet buffed and polished to perfection.
Dress code is a great plan, thankyou. Will also take OTT glamorous dress that normally only sees the light of day on holiday just in case. It is the most maxi of maxi dresses to hopefully covers everything....
Thanks!!

when we had family epics taken we were told not to wear white as it would blend into background but to go for bright colours.

Yes I'd avoid white and black (makes you look drained). Your soft grey/nay idea sounds good. I'd worry that camel/beige might wash out against others if they wear brighter colours, plus think those require fantastic skin tone to carry them off (which you may well have!)

Dress code sounds good - jeans plus glamour top for women, jeans plus coloured t-shirt for men...children can follow same pattern? If there are lots of you and everyone wears their own glam dress it will end up looking messy.

Thanks everyone!! Will have a search through my wardrobe shops and see what I can find.... Will use fake tan too I think so I don't look too drained! Wink
