What the hell has happened to my face in the last 24 hours??

Woke up on 2nd Jan with the skin above my lip and below my lip feeling incredibly dry and flaky.
Tiny "dry skin cuts" by the side of my nose too. If i don't keep it moisturised with the kids Epaderm then its flaking and feeling very uncomfortable.
Can't believe that NYE excesses would have done that, would they??
Not sure what to make of it (admittedly did sleep in make up but is that it??).

any ideas / tips gratefully received Sad

you sound dehydrated, are you drinking tons of water?

or possible some kind of reaction to a different product you're using? try using the most gentle moisturiser, like Simple or something fairly basic for a few days.

Have you had a cold and been blowing your nose -i get those 'cuts' too after a couple of days of excess tissue use

OhCobblers · 04/01/2012 22:37

thanks for your reply.

Dehydrated possibly as i never drink enough of it (possibly 1 glass or 2 a day Shock) but today was the start of my diet and i've had 1.2 litres which is a minor miracle!!

No cold and usual face cream, ie, nothing new so i'm guessing lots of water is the key?!

Aveeno might work better than Epaderm, I find it more moisturising and less greasy as it soaks in quite quickly. HTH

OhCobblers · 04/01/2012 22:39

thanks sleepysox - is it expensive?
the Epaderm is also the emollient rather than the cream so very greasy to rub in!

vit b complex tablets from the chemist

miracle cure for cracked lips, sore skin etc

www.boots.com/en/Aveeno-Daily-Moisturising-Lotion-300ml_1002811/

You can get it on prescription though.

mumtoted · 07/01/2012 11:37

Agree with workshy, could be pointing towards B vit deficiency.

WhatstheScenario · 07/01/2012 12:23

I have had this before. Did you get chapped int he wind?

I drank lots of water, slathered on Aveeno and rubbed vaseline around the problem areas before I went out.

Very annoying!

OhCobblers · 07/01/2012 22:33

thanks for further replies. had forgotten that I already have a bottle of Vit B Complex which i've started taking again and will get some Aveeno (thanks for link).
Wasn't out in the wind so still unsure what it is. Better today but still very flakey.
However, it has made me drink a lot of water as part of my new regime, take the Vit B and stay thoroughly moisturised!!! Thanks for the tips.
