Aveda Shampoo for psoriasis sufferers?

A fellow MNer posted about success her DH had with an Aveda shampoo in soothing his scalp. I am almost certain it wasn't the one which Aveda recommend for dry itchy scalps but another one from their range Hmm But I could be wrong!

Anyone shed any light?

I don't know which one she meant but I've used the Scalp one before and the conditioner and tbh, although it had a lovely smell and was nice to use, it didn't really help my scalp and eventually made my hair quite greasy too. I now use a mixture of Eucerin and T-Gel which works for my scalp most of the time but makes my hair v dry. Can't win!

Haven't used Aveda but think you can't go wrong with the Philip Kingsley Itchy Scalp shampoo - 'tis truly wonderful.

DH has tried T Gel for years and it doesn't do a thing for it. Now DS2 seems to be developing the same condition.

Will check out the Philip Kingsley option.

Any other takers?

Australian Moo Goo.

The Aveda one is Shampure. It's one of the few shampoos I can use that doesn't aggravate my eczema.

BelleDameSansMerci · 03/01/2012 21:54

I found Aveda made my eyes sting just from the smell (but wasn't Aveda One) and I don't have sensitive reactions generally. Was very surprised Sad

BelleDameSansMerci · 03/01/2012 21:55

Sorry, wasn't Shampure! Was confusing with Paul Mitchell, I think.

Aveda scalp therapy (I think it's called) didn't help mine

It's nice n'all but I was just as itchy and flaky and it's v expensive

I haven't found any products really do very much to help. I now use baby shampoo and conditioner and it doesn't aggreivate it, so happy with that.

One thing I seem to have had success with though, for my scalp psoriasis and also other bits on my body, was going dairy free for a few weeks. It cleared up almost entirely!

I have had diary again in the last month over Christmas and the psoriasis has returned, so I am going diary free again tomorrow.

EcumenicalMatter · 03/01/2012 22:32

No, Scalp Therapy is pretty rubbish for itchy, irritated scalps

The one the OP is looking for is definitely Shampure. I posted about it on the thread she's referring to (under another name) and remember another poster also extolling its virtues as her DH with psoriasis used it.

Alphosyl is fab. For the last couple of months I've almost totally avoided eating wheat - and my scalp is completely clear for now????

I got the wheat free tip on MN, but it probably doesn't work for everyone. Good luck.

On Channel 4 Food Hospital, a little boy's psoriasis cleared up after taking omega 3 oils (I think) although it didn't work so well for his mum. Different strokes for different folks, like you say Skiving.

Thank you everyone.

EcumenicalMatter - had a feeling that was the one when I perused the Aveda site.

mumtoted - hadn't thought about supplements but they would be generally beneficial for both DS and DH anyway so let's see if I can persuade them :)
