Would this dress be ok for a winter AND summer wedding?

We are being invited to two weddings this year, they should have been in April and May. Due to health reasons Sad one is being brought forward to this month.

I only have a budget for one outfit - about £150 which is for dress, shoes, head thingy (that's a technical term), and any other accessories that I need.

I'm a 16

this

I thought a black shrug, shoes etc for this month and then try for green stuff for summe r- I actuallly really fancygreen elbow length gloves!

nice dress.

no to the gloves idea.

Cybbo · 02/01/2012 20:47

I'm not a fan of shrugs or head thingies (I'm assuming you mean a fascinator)

More chic to have a soft wrap thrown artfully across yourself and some fabulous dangly earrings to pick out the colour in the dress. Plus clutch

I woudl just spend a bit more on some decent black weddingy shoes and double up

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/01/2012 20:50

Yes what never and cybbo said.

LydiaWickham · 02/01/2012 20:51

yes to the dress, would work with black shoes for both, change of shrug (if upper arms aren't your best bit then shrug might feel better than wrap).

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 02/01/2012 20:51

cybbo is spot on.

mumtoted · 02/01/2012 21:58

Shrug fine, IMO nicer than a wrap that I would end up clutching round me like an old lady shawl (assuming shrug is nice one from Hobbs rather than cheap from Primark).

BeeBread · 02/01/2012 22:06

Dress is quite nice but I prefer this and this from Phase Eight - both quite curve friendly I would have thought?

tethersend · 02/01/2012 23:15

I don't like that dress.

I'd get this instead.

TapselteerieO · 02/01/2012 23:30

I don't like the dress, and prefer Beebread and Tethers choices - I would look for short or 3/4 length sleeve and avoid shrugs, wraps & fascinators.

lisaro · 02/01/2012 23:42

Love the dress, but no to the gloves. I do have the phase eight 'BEA' dress - it hangs beautifully. Just maybe a flower in your hair, but NOT a shrug, deffo a wrap with it.

lilibet · 03/01/2012 09:54

I really like the oyster phase eight dress, nice than mine, but that leaves me the problem of a January wedding and needing something over it. It's not going to be all in one location.

I've tried wraps and they are not for me, I can't carry off the effortless elegance that they need.

I wasn't serious with the gloves, I just fancy beign a fifties debutante Wink

chocolate brown fake fur coat thing for the january wedding over the oyster dress?

deaconblue · 03/01/2012 11:39

I liked your original dress choice though btw. I had a similar dress from Coast for a March wedding last year, wore it with cardigan and shoes in bright blue. I also wore it to a summer thing with bare legs, no cardigan and said shoes. All went well and drapey bit was good for my wobbly bits

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 03/01/2012 12:33

ooh tethersend's dress in lovely too.

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 03/01/2012 12:34

is, not in.

BeeBread · 04/01/2012 09:19

Saw this jacket and thought of you, OP.

noddyholder · 04/01/2012 10:11

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 04/01/2012 22:59

noddyholder · 05/01/2012 13:56

Grin I spend all the renovation time dressed like a boy so will buy suitable ball gown to move in!
