Somewhere to tuck my mummy tummy!

so - in one of those rare but honest moments my DH and I told the truth about what we like/dislike about each other's wardrobes! I think I did well - he only had one real gripe, but it's a biggie :( . He finds my (size 12) jeans unsexy as they do give me a fairly obvious muffin top. I know he's right (and am very glad to get off so lightly!) but need some help. Going up to a 14 doesn't seem to solve the problem with my spillage and, anyway, therein lies the road to ruin. Where can I tuck this tummy of mine while I also slim down enough to sort the problem more permanently. I have about £100 to spend - but would very happily spend less. Please help me.

Wear dresses Smile - I also have tummy issues but they disappear when wearing a dress! Not a skin tight body-con dress obviously but on which flares slightly over the tummy area but shows off all the other right bits.

Thanks bigfatgypsy - good advice and I am a dress wearer but I do think my legs and bum are my best assets and so, theoretically, a good pair of jeans should be one of my staples.

get a sucky in body suit, I have one and I suppose it makes me slightly thinner but more importantly it gives me a smooth silhouette, no muffin top anywhere.

What kind of jeans have you already got? Could high-waisted ones help? (although I have tried that and they give me a muffin-boob combo but that might just be me)

Jeans and fitted tops dont suit anyone who isnt very slim, ime.

Swap to skinnies with tunic tops or tights/leggings with dresses that give you a waist and artfully skim your tum.

If you cant put the jeans down, you could wear Spanx (I love the knicker type ones that come right up to your bust and attach to your bra if you need them to), but wont be the comfiest or, ahem, freshest underneath jeans.

You could also think about changing the style of jean you wear? Go for a higher waist, maybe?

My jeans are the cheapest of the cheap from New Look and I do love them in every respect except that they are low rise and don't camouflage the offending muffin top! Also have Gap ones - same problem. Definitely interested in high rise - any recommendations please.

I also have this problem, but I love wearing jeans! I saw a thread a while back saying these are really good George at Asda Great Bum Jeans. Although they are meant for great bums they are high waisted which also gives great tums apparently! I haven't tried them but may well do. I also have new look jeans as other than the muffin top they seem to suit my shape but I have taken to wearing tunics with them.

Do you have a TK Maxx near you? I bought a pair of previously expensive Ralph Lauren skinny jeans that hug my spindle shanks but come way high enough over my tum to hide it. I think expensive skinnies might be the way?

Ok you need to buy Top Shop Martha jeans. They are super flattering and higher cut on the waist than most jeans. Absolutely no danger of muffin top. Unlike other higher waisted jeans, the pockets onthe bum are small and positioned low meaning that they look like regular low rise jeans - ie infinitely more bum flattering. They come up big and the denim is beautifully soft so size down ( ie buy a 12 if you are really a 14). I always size up in Top Shop but am wearing a teeny tiny size now that I really couldn't believe I could get into!
