Came as part of a Christmas gift set. What am I meant to do with it?

The Clarins stuff...

put it on underneath your foundation or tinted moisturiser. Make sure that it is wet when you put the foundation on top.

bushymcbush · 31/12/2011 16:22

But what does it do? I have some of this too, from last Christmas, and I don't know what it's for! Have hardly touched it.

Gigondas · 31/12/2011 16:26

It acts as a good base but also seems to
Moisturise and brighten up your face under make up. Good for nights out

cornsilxkski · 31/12/2011 16:32

i wear it all the time - hides wrinkles and is a good base. I wouldn't be without it

woollyideas · 31/12/2011 16:42

So... moisturiser first, then flash balm, then tinted moisturiser or foundation?

That's two layers more than I usually wear, but am willing to make an effort Grin

It's a pile of shit. That's what.

cornsilxkski · 31/12/2011 16:55

fregley you must be doing it wrong Wink

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2011 17:21

Yes - misturise then BFB then foundation. Pat the BFB on quickly (you need a teeny tiny amount) then get the foundation on straight away with no rubbing!

Dozeyland · 31/12/2011 20:47

i'm 22, 20 weeks pregnant, I have been using this for the past 2 weeks, and havent really seen much difference :S

Maybe as i am under stress at the mo it may not be helping my skin? i still have breakouts (due to the stress and pregnancy i think :()

It makes my skin soft, but just not the "brightness, and tightening"?

FoofFighters · 01/01/2012 10:22

I didn't get it until I watched this Lisa Eldridge video:

www.lisaeldridge.com/video/1670/primer/primer

She talks specifically about Beauty Flash balm at 6 mins 30 secs. It's all in the application, she shows you how :)

thenightsky · 01/01/2012 10:24

I use it instead of moisturiser for nights out.

Gillybobs · 01/01/2012 11:00

I think its the Emperors New CLothes tbh. Tried it several times over the years and I swear I see NO difference at all : /

I didn't seem to make any difference to me. I only ever bought it once.

LynetteScavo · 01/01/2012 11:04

I don't even know the difference between primer and serum.

ameliagrey · 01/01/2012 11:05

it's supposed to give you tighter skin and a bit of a glow.

I tried a sample but didn't like it- if you apply too much then rub your skin/put foundation on, it flakes off - the Clarins asst told me that too.

Much prefer Clinique Mositure Surge as a bit of extra oomph under make up- it does plump up your skin.

AmberLeaf · 01/01/2012 11:06

I used it in the early 90s, particularly after a heavy night. It did give me a bit of a glow, but I was 17 at the time and was quite probably glowy anyway!

It did smell quite strong [as lots of Clarins stuff does] I think vasaline would probably do the same job TBH.

cornsilxkski · 01/01/2012 11:10

I've tried Laura Mercier (and smashbox) primer. Much prefer BFB. Just because something isn't 'new' doesn't mean it's not effective. BFB is also better for skin than primer.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2012 14:28

I don't like Clinique Moisture Surge - I had a sample but found it really greasy and smelly. Then again, whilst I quite like Clinique make up, I've never found a skincare product of theirs that I rate tbh.

stressheaderic · 01/01/2012 14:37

I got BFB for Christmas in a gift box too. Have been using it this week and do think my skin is softer and more dewy looking. I'm 31 and have a few wrinkles. I like it, and I actually quite like the smell (a bit like lanolin).

HouseOfBambooootiful · 01/01/2012 14:37

Isn't it supposed to work by drying in an eggwhite stylee, thereby sort of pulling your skin tighter. Or something?

AmberLeaf · 01/01/2012 14:49

House, no its not a tightener...more of a plumper.

madammecholet · 01/01/2012 15:48

For me it certainly tightens and brightens. My make up looks far better with it on underneath, but tbh I only use when I'm going out - not every day..

TracyK · 01/01/2012 16:28

The BFB eye cream is also good for brightening and tightening around the eyes. I'm sure the story goes that you aren't sposed to use it every day otherwise your skin gets used to it and stops the effect.
