Black skinny jeans - any recommendations?

So after raiding the sales and buying lots of lovely tops, I now need to invest in a pair of decent black (need a blue pair too, but more tops to go with black) skinny jeans. I am a curvy 14, 5'5''. I would wear them ticked into boots and with heels/flats, and already own a pair from Asda and Dorothy Perkins, but they are rubbish to be honest - baggy at the knee and need constant hoiking up. Am willing to spend a decent amount if they do the job.

Any recommendations? TIA

Topshop Baxters (or Jamie if you want very skinny)

Whats your budget?

The best jeans I have ever owned are 7 Fot All Mankind, but they are £150-ish. Topshop are the best cheap alternative, imo.

Another for TopShop Baxters or Jamie
I just bought a VERY cheap pair in Primark - for £10 you can't go wrong and they are super soft and super skinny

QuinnFabray · 31/12/2011 15:15

Topshop Leigh's are more comfortable than the Baxters or Jamie's. Have more of a stretch and are softer.

Just bought a pair of levi curve skinnies and am in awe. Never dared to wear skinnies before as my arse falls out of normal jeans. But the levi curve thing works so well and they are the best fitting pair of trousers i ahve ever owned...

Topshop jeans no good if you are genuinely curvy, if they fit on the arse/thighs they always gape at the waist.

Another one for Levi curve, bought my first pair a few weeks ago and have vowed never to waste money on anything else, they are expensive but fit like a glove. I bought the straight leg but will be going back for a skinny pair when I've saved up.

Thanks all for posts - will try both topshop and Levi's. Did you get a proper fitting for the Levi's or a consultation of something? Do you know if John Lewis do them - nearest department store to me.....

some of the Levis curve are on offer at Asos. here

Fregley · 31/12/2011 16:48

Top shop baxters
Find Leigh's too thin and will show your pants

Eclairwaldorf · 31/12/2011 16:50

How do you know which style to go for? Blush curve? Bold? Blush

I think there is some info on the levis website, or you can just try them on. Its not hard. If you are curvy you are probably a bold. My local JL does them.

I have a pair of black skinny jeans from Uniqlo and they are fab.

plusonemore · 31/12/2011 16:56

fat face

miche8 · 31/12/2011 17:39

i have a few pairs of the levis curve jeans and to be honest i'm disappointed in how they have washed up considering the price, i also have the topshop jamies and baxters which have washed much better, i'm a size 14 apple shape by the way.

MatLeaveForever · 31/12/2011 17:39

I bought my first pair of Levi's bold curve today - my first pair of skinnies ever! I got measured there, they measure round your waist, your hips and the distance between Blush. I was in an actual Levi's store, not sure if John Lewis have them.

To be honest lots of pairs didn't fit as well as I wanted, lots were baggy on the thighs (which is a first for me!) but the grey skinnies I got were great and half price in the sale. Just need to work out what to wear them with now...

Another Top Shop fan here. YY to Baxters, Jamies or Leighs.

The other ones I like are the French Connection skinnies but they are more expensive, around £80. But the denim is thicker and they wash well.

spikemomma · 01/01/2012 15:24

I've bought jeans from uniqlo before and they have been good.

frankie76 · 01/01/2012 15:57

I can't wear topshop as my calfs r too brigand I'm a size 8!!

So will go try Levi - thanks for the tip
