I'm 40 in a couple of weeks and quite a few people have asked me what I'd like, probably 5-6 people have asked and I think they would be expecting to spend about £40 each.

DH says they don't want to put their money together, and don't want to buy vouchers (they're all from his family) so do you have any ideas?

I'm not usually a S&B kind of person, but would like to be iyswim, so are there any must have items I could ask for in this price range?

Cashmere wrist warmers from Brora - I had some for Christmas and they are lovely.

Do you think they would get you vouchers if you explained there was something specific you would like to buy as a momento of your 40th? That way you could invest in something really special.

DH got me a beautiful wool/cashmere coat for Christmas which was a real spoil and something I will have for years. A friend of mine asked for vouchers for Ernest Jones for her 40th and bought herself a lovely pendant which I guess she'll have forever.

Those wrist warmers are lovely tikkabillajive, thank you.

LolaLadybird - I think the idea was discussed and dismissed, as they all want to be able to give me something individually. My family have clubbed together to buy something lovely (apparently, don't know what it is yet!) and DH has bought me something special too, so will have a couple of things to keep.

I would just like to give them a couple of ideas, maybe something I wouldn't usually spend £40 on myself.

Ren Rose Otto bath oil - £33 so much too expensive to buy yourself but so lovely

Jo Malone cologne's are about £40 inc p&p online. You could collect a set as they are gorgeous when used together. Xmas Envy.

Great ideas thank you...have suggested gloves from Brora in 'frost', Ren bath oil/body polish set and a Jo Malone cologne (possibly unwisely trusting them to choose one for me!).

Thank you!

Oh good! Hope you get them! Although I like mine so much I'm afraid to wear them in case I lose them!
