Morning all. I need some advice. I have been asked out on a date! OMG . Just going to a local pub nothing fancy. I have not been out on a date for probably 5-6 years (recently left my marriage and in process of divorcing), consequently I'm in a panic about what to wear.

I've put on a lot of weight and I'm sad to say I am a big girl! size 20 . I do have a curvy figure but abit pear shaped! I'm 5 ft 4. I tend to feel most comfy in skirts or dresses but wonder if this would be too dressy?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi barmybird,

like you I'm a size 20 pear shape - I like to wear wide leg trousers as they seem to balance out the wideness of my bum, with a v neck top. you can dress it up according to the poshness of the top and the jewellery you wear. Very comfy and usually looks OK.

Good luck with the date

there is no such thing as too dressy in my book

enjoy the date!

Oh god! I don't know.

I did think I could wear my new jeans they are a bootleg cut which I think looks better on me. I've also got a lovely big shawl style cardigan but I wonder if all that fabric hanging over my boobs makes them look even bigger!

Do the current shawl type cardi's look ok on bigger girls?

i was going to suggest jeans. have you got a sparkly top? then you could be dressy with jeans

does that make sense?

i love the shawl type cardi things, if youve already bought it you must like it, and if its new, wearing something new always make you feel a bit nicer so wear it

maybe he likes big boobs

I've just had a look at Susannah and Trinny's bit of the BBC home page and they say bootleg trousers (hurrah- 1 right!) and a v neck top with nice accessories (10 out of 10 for tangerinecath). So I guess I'm off shopping!

At work or going out I go for the wide leg/bootleg trousers and v neck top with nice accessories and a bit of slap, but at home I look a total tramp in un-trinny-&-tranny-friendly round neck t-shirts and tracky bottoms, so I definitely don't deserve the full 10/10

yes a v neck is best for big boobs
