Long lasting makeup

I am sick of makeup that claims to be long lasting but just isn't. I am looking for products that will actually stay put and live up to what they promise. My lipstick and lipgloss never seems to last much more than a couple of hours!

Give me your recommendations please for reliable long lasting:

Lipstick or lipgloss
Eyeshadow (non creasing as well as long lasting)
Eyeliner

Thanks Thanks

Clinique lip gloss- not the plumping one- is quite good. I do a 3 mile hike most days in wind and rain and it's usually still on when I get home. even when the colour has worn off the moisturising bit stays put.

Eyeshadow- ditto DIOR five palette. £40 and I have not replaced it so far, but stays put.

Eyeliner- don't use as such but use Clinique pencil - quickliner. stays put.

Max Factor lipstain, or Lipfinity (actually, lipfinity is actually a pain to get off when you do want it to go)

MAC Liquilast

I find eye primer stops eyeshadow problems

Am not a big everyday makeup wearer, but when I work at conferences, I need to put on makeup and then not touch it for 12 hours and look supersmart all day, so have worked on this

Eyeshadow - use urban decay potion primer under it, I don't work for them Grin
But 15 hours after a NYE ambulance shift my eyeshadow will still look perfect
You only need a little bit too

SebastionTheCrab · 30/12/2011 23:32

Yes I second Lipfinity by Max Factor. If staying power is what you want and a good price too.

SantieMaggie · 30/12/2011 23:33

second urban decay eye primer

Only makeup that lasts on me is Bare Escentuals mineral makeup.
I have combination skin and use the matte version.
Their eyeshadow stays put as well .

I have ven converted dd cos of it's amazing staying power.
Not sure about lip stuff though.

As always, Bobbi Brown is your friend here:
long wear cream shadows - go on, and last, a dream

the fantabulous gel eyeliners Seriously, when nucleoid armageddon happens, the cockroaches will be trotting around the world with beautifully-defined eyes. It's THAT long lasting.

humblehippo · 31/12/2011 00:53

Thanks for the suggestions. Will definitely get some Lipfinity and eye primer.

Amelia I was thinking of trying the Clinique quickliner. Was wondering what to spend my Boots points on - the quickliner or a Clinique lid smoothie. Has anyone tried those? I really like the colours but have seen quite mixed reviews re its staying power.

Hazel I am definitely interested in trying the Bobbi Brown. Never used eyeliner in that format though as I always get pens or pencils, never got on with liquid in the past. BB looks worth a try though as it is so rated. The shadows also look good.

More suggestions welcome Grin

loreal chrome eyeshadow last all day.
when i go to bed at night its the only thing left on!
they cost about £6

valiumredhead · 31/12/2011 10:54

Eyeliner - Double wear by Estee Lauder or Exageratte by Rimmel for budget version.

Lipstick - Max Factor or Maybelline 24 hr Super stay .

Foundation - Bare Minerals

valiumredhead · 31/12/2011 10:54

Primer - Barbara Daly at Tescos BEST stuff I have ever used and I have used them all!

Cybbo · 31/12/2011 10:55

Max factor Lipfinity stays FOREVER, so much so I have to take mine fof with baby oil at bedtinme

I use waterproof mascara ( I ahve greasy lids). Eyeliner never stays on me, even long lasting ones. ALTHO I have found putting some mineral veil on my lids gives it something to grip to for a bit longer

But bare essencuals minral foundation lasts forever too

gregssausageroll · 31/12/2011 12:20

For eyeliners either a bobbi brown gel one or a little compact of 10 gels from smashbox.

ggirl · 31/12/2011 12:24

greasy eyelids here too and watery eyes..lovely combo
ooh cybbo have you seen this?
to keep eyeliner on
go on try it and let me know how it is Grin

Second the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliners. That stuff stays on ALL DAY on me, no smudging. Also Lancome's Artliner will stay put until you take it off, but I find it tricky to apply.
Foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear is the budiness. Make sure you apply it thinly (otherwise it looks cakey) and set it with a tiny bit of powder (if I dont use powder it feels sticky on me).
You haven't asked about blushers, but just in case, Bobbi Brown pot rouge lasts the day and looks fresh and dewy.
I use the above on a Saturday, they last through a wash and blow dry in the morning, DD's swimming lesson (I dont wet my face), bathing DD, play im the park, and when the babysitter comes at 7pm, I don't need to touch up apart from lipstick to go out for the evening.
