Shoddy Shellac nails?

Aren't Shellac nails supposed to last for three weeks?
I had some done on Christmas Eve in a dark red, Rouge Noir style shade. Two if them have chipped already, despite me applying Solar Oil at least twice a day and using rubber gloves while doing household chores.
Sad
Should I get the salon to do a repair job, or do these manicures only last a week in real-life?

No shellac should last at least two weeks if they have been looked after I. E gloves etc dont pick at them rake a photo and either send it to your tech for get to see or go in and see her. A good tech can and should admit when it's get fault and offer to do a repair. Not saying you have but to a trained tech it is obvious if they have been picked and and not just peeled off.

Hope you get it sorted xxx

Shellac is a good product and when it's done properly will last 2 - 3 weeks. If you are being toally honest when you say you are wearing gloves and oiling and not interfering with the product then you need to go back to the salon.

The main technical thing that affects the longevity of Shellac is the UV lamp used by the Tech. Only the CND lamp will cure Shellac thoroughly so if a different brand of lamp is used the product may be under-cured which will lead to service breakdown. CND have 2 lamps, (1) is white with a digital timer that you can see counting down, CND logo'd on the top and cures all 5 fiingers in at once. (2) is a grey lamp without a digital timer and cures the 4 fingers together with the thumbs being done separately.

I hope that makes sense and isn't too technical (I'm a Nail Tech!)! I hope it helps you understand a bit more about Shellac.......

Thank you for your advice. When she was applying the polish I did notice that she was tipping the bottle as if to get the last bits out. Would that make a difference to the finish?

Not normal. I didn't do any gloves/oil gaffing and mine lasted two weeks before one single chip. I also had dark red.

I had it once and it didn't last a week, 3 came off the whole nails in one go! It did go wrong at first so the technician took it off and started again, I think now I had a bodge job. Am having it done again soon at a different place, hopefully it'll be a lot better.

I have bio sculpture nails and they can last up to 3 weeks. I assume that shellac is similar.

One of my nails broke yesterday and I had to peel it off - I caught it in a ring pool, split the nail and wrecked the gel, totally my fault, but i know if I text my beauty therapist she will fix that finger FOC.

Oh this happened to me a few weeks ago. Didn't have the nerve to go back....despite all the nails falling off. Went somewhere else on Xmas eve and had them redone. They still look fab and I am sooooo impressed. So no I don't think it's meant to happen as my nails now feel much harder and stronger....not to mention damn gorgeous!!! Hope you get it sorted!!

I had similar (wasn't shellac, trying to think exactly what now!) - was supposed to last 3 weeks and started to come off in a few days. A week later I was on holiday and had to soak/pick of with acetone.

I too had been very careful (but had washed my hair in the shower), and was quite Angry.

I got Shellac nails done on 23rd, by that evening 1 had chipped so I contacted the salon and had it repaired on Christmas Eve. By Christmas morning it was off altogether then a second 1 floated past DS whilst bathing him on boxing day! Disappointing as I too thought they should last 3 weeks!
