My friend is kindly bringing me some back. My old ones say a 30 on the waistband but it looks like they have changed their sizing on their website. now they start at 6 and go on up to 14, would this be American sizing and what do you reckon the equivalent of a uk size 30 waist is, Im normally a uk 14.

If your friend is bringing back from USA and you won't be able to return if wrong, i think you should try on in a UK shop, make a note of the serial number and tell her so she gets it exactly right.
UK 14 is about a US 10 - but in US they are usually sized in inches , so 30 should be about right.

my old ones are a 30.

Ive looked on the site and to me it looks like their new designs are are now sized more like ours. The low rise remain inches put the new ones that cover your muffin top are more like ours.

I bought some of these for DD1 in TK Maxx for 25 quid a pair. You could have a look in there?
