beautiful basics

I've been using my insomnia and looking through the Wendy lookbook site that's been quite a hit in S&B. I love the semi-sheer soft t-shirts and vests she wears and looking around they seem to be from Splendid, Kain, so high end US brands.
I need to update my wardrobe and buy a number of different tanks, t-shirts, so don't want to spend Splendid prices. Where on the high street makes the best very fine and flattering, expensive-looking jersey tops? I'm thinking I need some in black, grey, blush and white or cream.

I'm currently cruising some on asos and topshop ...

Me too with the insomnia!

I find uniqlo tops to be v good quality. They wash and wear well. Gap ones tend to shrink, and also aren't as long in the body.

Not sure they're what you're looking for though. These are just basics.

what is this wendy look book you speak of?

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/12/2011 08:01

Wendy

Quite a bit of splendid in the sales at the moment on nap and often crops up on the outnet.

ggirl · 29/12/2011 08:12

thank you

Second the Outnet recommendation, Alexander Wang basics often come up there too. I also like Cos for basics, I have some lovely soft, thin cotton tops from there which wash really well.

LadyWord · 29/12/2011 17:28

I love all saints for really lovely, fine vests and layering tops. In the sale though! Also superdry, though you have to search hard for the things that don't have the logo all over them. I have a cream, long length vest from there that's v. nice.

Gillybobs · 29/12/2011 17:37

Wrap do some lovely basics is soft wearable colours, still not the cheapest but everything Ive bought has lasted for ever here

devonshireduckling · 29/12/2011 18:29

ooh this is exciting, I was unaware of Alexander Wang's casual line, so I am watching Outnet (and NAP) closely. All Saints I assumed would have prints only so I shall look out there (and was put off by superdry logos, so I'll be more persistent in looking).

Never heard of Wrap so I've made a few great new discoveries today.

But wendy is just a normal blogger? No?

mumtoted · 29/12/2011 19:52

What a beautiful lady. I've never really looked at blogs before. Is there any other S&B blogs out there I should know about? (Perhaps for the more mature/curvy?)
