Help - where to buy nice, not too expensive clothes in a size 24?

My SIL is a size 24 and struggling to find nice clothes in her size on the high street. Any recommendations, aside from Evans? I feel awful for her, we went shopping together and everything we could find was just dreadful. She's only 32 and it was just all so frumpy and ugly. Thanks!

New Look, if they have the larger range. Clothes are nice and reasonably priced. Way better than Evans which is yuk.

BTW what a kind non judgemental SIL you are wish you were mine Grin

Aw, thank you! We will try New Look, which I love for their general range - didn't realise they did larger sizes but we have a big store so hopefully it will stock it (SIL lives in a tiny town with very few shops - I felt really guilty that she'd come up to us partly to do some shopping in a city and I had no clue where to go). I was really shocked by the clothes in Evans - I'd been under the impression that Beth Ditto had done a line for them so was expecting some quite cool stuff but it all seemed horrid - nasty fabrics and awful patterns. It made me want to set up a shop selling nice clothes in bigger sizes.

H & M

New look do have some really lovely clothes and they are lots cheaper than Evans. Matalan also have a plus size range that's cheap and nice

LoveInASnowyClimate · 27/12/2011 08:48

Oooh, didn't realise H&M did bigger sizes, thanks. I usually get freaked out by the total chaos and leave without anything but I will be brave and persevere with it! Thank you.

I know it's not high street but i usually buy my clothes from

here - really quick service and very inexpensieve.

Wish I'd started this thread before spending a miserable day unable to find anything a d having a row with a personal shopper in House of Fraser about their sizing policy Blush.

I quite like New Look, but prefer the cut and quality of the jeans and trousers in Evans. All the trousers I have bought from New Look have fallen apart in weeks, I have jeans from Evans that are still going strong 2 years on and MIL bought me some gorgeous black stretch cords from Evans as part of my Christmas present for £20 which I hope will last as long.

LoveInASnowyClimate · 27/12/2011 08:53

Thanks, dee! Also has the advantage that she can get it from home rather than having to travel to us to shop. Brilliant, thanks.

Also Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys clothing do a range in larger sizes.

deemented · 27/12/2011 08:54

And they have a fab sale on too - up to 75% off!!!

LoveInASnowyClimate · 27/12/2011 08:55

Thanks, Santas. To be fair to Evans, the trousers and jeans were nice and she did get a couple of pairs, but the tops and dresses were much less good. Quite nice chunky necklaces but not really why we were in the shop!

Off for breakfast now but back later - thanks for all the help.

No help for shopping trips, but have a look at Asos

LoveInASnowyClimate · 27/12/2011 20:23

Thanks, everyone! Didn't go shopping today in the end but will report back on how it went when we do and we'll check out the online stuff. Thanks so much.
