Help! Back to work after maternity leave next week, nothing to wear and I never get it quite right.

I need some smart, (but not necessarily suits) to wear for work. I have about £300 to spend, am size 8/10, 5ft 4, dark hair with pale skin. Post 2 children overhang but not in bad shape otherwise. I was thinking of some jersey dresses I can wear with boots, maybe a smart skirt or 2 and something to wear on top, both shirt and jacket or something. Where is best to look? Thanks Xmas Grin

I have 2 Austin Reed suits which will never fit my hips again. Grin

Hello fuzzy.

Can you manage wrap-around dresses? they're always very adaptable.

I'm in same position as you, albeit a bit larger. I got a smart skirt from matalan - I'll let you know what the quality is like Hmm.

Have you tried Next?

MidnightinMoscow · 27/12/2011 12:22

Hi - I would go to LK Bennet and get some good quality pieces in their sale. Try the Davina dress, pencil skirts and waist length cardigans.

gallicgreetings · 27/12/2011 12:29

The dress is £175 and out of stock in Fuzzy's size. Very nice though.

Argh, didn't mean to post so soon!

That's a little more casual - anyone know what sizing is like at Kookai? Hate those 8/10 12/14 sizes as I'm probably 10/12.

Fuzzywood · 27/12/2011 19:09

Thanks, sorry been off line today.

Haven't tried LK Bennett before, have received a bit more Christmas money today so may have to ' invest' in one expensive classic piece Grin
Think Kookai are a little on the small side but not massively so.
Friday looks like it'll be my shopping day, wish me luck.

I ordered a couple of dresses from Great Plains this afternoon Fuzzy.

More my price range, I'm afraid.

Fuzzywood · 28/12/2011 07:11

Probably more mine too Gallic, let me know what they're like when you get them? It's all a bit strange thinking about work clothes
