Proper dress for smart 60s themed do

I have urgent need of a posh party frock with a 60s feel. I live in a large city. I am online trying to do some pre-planning for hitting the shops tommorrow as I have a total of zero hours to devote to this. But I really don't know what I'm doing - any brands / shops / google-able words I should be looking at?

I would get a proper vintage dress. Which city are you in?

tethersjinglebellend · 25/12/2011 23:19

Something like this

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 25/12/2011 23:21

oasis dress in john lewis

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 25/12/2011 23:34

can you give an idea of budget?

SilkStalkings · 26/12/2011 14:06

River Island skater dress

SilkStalkings · 26/12/2011 14:09

And Topshop has a blue skater dress

TheChristmasTreeSurgeonsMate · 26/12/2011 14:43

Those are some good picks, I love the Oasis one. I do live near a glamorous vintage shop, but it isn't opening until tommorrow afternoon, and that's at the end of my shopping window, so didn't want to put all eggs in that basket. I'll have a look in case the killer frock is there.

Meanwhile, shift dress was the phrase I needed. I have bought one from Zara with a zip and little pockets, I think it has the right feel. Big plastic earrings and a pair of white tights shouldn't be as hard to find, hopefully.

now, what about your hair?

TheChristmasTreeSurgeonsMate · 26/12/2011 14:49

Oh you are kidding me, my hair? Can't you tell I'm not good at this kind of thing? What the hell did they do with their hair? Mine is long and straight. Vidal Sassoon it ain't.
