Am having crazy ideas about going to stock up with next year's stuff for the DC...

No. I think it's sheer madness. Sorry Smile

ronx · 25/12/2011 21:14

I'd rather spend the day cooped up at home with my in-laws.

Sparklingbaubles · 25/12/2011 21:16

I would rather stick pins in my eyes than got to the Next sale at 5am or something. Sorry.

Sirzy · 25/12/2011 21:16

I did on online on friday instead. Much easier!

starshaker · 25/12/2011 21:18

i couldnt find anything i liked in the sale online. Is it just me or is it really crap

Sparklingbaubles · 25/12/2011 21:19

It's only a bargain if you need it according to DH. It's not a bad mantra.

starshaker · 25/12/2011 21:36

My kids need the next size up (18-24 months) and there is only 3 things for my daughter and 12 for my son but nothing i would actually buy. I used to be able to spend a small fortune in the sale (for dd1) and now there is nothing :(

Sparklingbaubles · 25/12/2011 21:38

I have never been able to buy stuff to put away for the DC. I'm all instant gratification, if I buy it's for them to wear now. Grin

Geordieminx · 25/12/2011 21:40

I had a 7am slot on Friday and got mostly fuck all. Nowt for me or ds (4.5), a few bits for dh but that was it.

Very disappointing.

SebastionTheCrab · 25/12/2011 21:51

I just had a look online as I need a winter coat with a hood and the only ones I could see had just size 6 left in stock.
I'm soo not size 6! Xmas Sad
I wanna be size 6!! Xmas Angry

I would rather eat another turkey on my own with day old congealed bread sauce while listening to Cliff Richard.

You only get decent stuff online if you get the first VIP slot which was Thursday evening. By the time it opens to everyone there is nothing much left.

I want to go but going shopping on boxing day would really piss me off TBH.

Petisa · 25/12/2011 22:03

I'm going - need stuff for dd1 and I live less than a 5 min walk away so... The stuff online looks horrible though. I was hoping for some nice dresses. Is there more choice in the shops?

gregssausageroll · 26/12/2011 08:00

I couldn't think of anything worse if I am honest but then I think it is utterly sad that shops can't stay closed for 2 days at Christmas anymore. OK people want to shop but what about the poor people who need to get to work for 3-4 am because shoppers want to buy jumble sale shite from Next.

Petisa · 26/12/2011 08:31

Well I'm just back and enjoying breakfast! Xmas Smile I would have been up anyway with the baby, and as I said above it's less than a 5 min walk away for me. There were over 300 people there when I arrived just after 6 and this is a small town!

I got some lovely things for dd1 and don't think it's jumble sale shite at all. Xmas Hmm Well, some of it is definitely not to my taste, but that would be the case with any shop I think. Some of us can't afford to buy clothes at the full price you know! Plus we have very few shops with childrens' clothes here.

Surely there's no need for them to open at that crazy time though - don't see why they can't open at 9am or stay closed until tomorrow - they'll still get queues and sell all the stuff. Xmas Confused

MegBusset · 26/12/2011 08:39

Well I've only just rolled out of bed (and off to MIL's this morning) so doesn't look like I'll be going!

OP posts:
thereinmadnesslies · 26/12/2011 09:33

I got there at 6.30 and there was no boys trousers left Shock which was the entire reason for going. The queues for the tills were huge. I ended up putting back the few bits I did pick up and went home to bed

Kellogg · 26/12/2011 13:18

I agree it is sad that we can't seem to do without shops for 2 days.

GreatBallsOfFluff · 26/12/2011 13:52

You may call me pathetic but I was queued up at 5.10 this morning to get in. My new red coat originally £90 which I got for £25 and my boots which were £30 down from £60 made it worth it. I got some other bits and pieces too which altogether would have cost over £300 normally whereas I paid less than half that. I know its not for everyone but for me it was worthwhile.

Sparklingbaubles · 26/12/2011 13:58

It's only a bargain if you need it. Wink

mejon · 26/12/2011 15:19

Oo Petisa - you don't live in my nearest town do you? Small, coastal mid-Wales town, recently opened Next, very few other shops for childrenswear?

ronx · 26/12/2011 17:27

I agree with greggs. Poor Next staff having their Christmas ruined because they have to be at work at 3am on the 26th. Sad

Kelly281 · 26/12/2011 23:42

The online Next sale was dire this year. In store was much better today. I didn't go 'til 10am and still got quite a bit for me & dp, and loads a couple sizes up for dd.

I could have bought more for her if my dp hadn't been urging me to hurry up, yet online when I searched for 6-9mths, there was like 12 items all rubbish!
