Under eyes dark circles

Hello

I have permanent dark circles under my eyes, even when I sleep plenty. Do you know of any product (or trick) that works?

Thanks.

I use Bobbi Brown corrector which is great - and have also started using their concealer on top but it's the corrector that really works it's magic. You'll probably have to go to a counter so they can find the right shade for you. It's not cheap but worth it for me!

I have been using the garnier roll on stuff, - its made very little, if any, difference (I know you wanted recommendations, but this is an unrecommendation which I thought might be helpful)

I have permanent circles too because of my complexion. The only thing that works for me was Bare Minerals Summer Bisque Concealer.

Spending time applying a light under eye serum correctly is a great way to improve circulation and therefore appearance of under eye skin. Apply a tiny amount of eye serum to the pad of each ring finger and then gently circle the eye socket using gentle pressure, say 10 times. You will feel and look much brighter, I promise :). Mama Mio do a great eye serum which I have found to be brilliant and a little goes a long way.

Also try another facial exercise of opening your eyes and mouth as wide as they will go - imitating a roaring lion, if you like Wink. Hold for a few seconds then relax back to normal. It is a yoga exercise but repeated a couple of times in the morning before applying make up is a brilliant way of instantly improving circulation and skin tone.

Wow, thank you all for your responses!

MatLeaveForever - what's the difference between a corrector and a concealer?

KurriKurri - thanks! Unrecommendations are also useful indeed! I thought about trying that product but didn't want to buy it without knowing if it works! So thank you really.

Le Queen - that's a great makeup trick, but I was hoping for advice on products/tricks that would help reduce the appearance of dark circles without makeup. However I will remember that tip, certainly. I've always had great difficulty applying concealer.

ujjayi - thank you for your recommendation. I didn't know about eye serums, I might try the one you recommend. And the roaring lion, of course!

The corrector is meant for heavy duty dark circles , goes from grey to skin coloured which makes me look more awake.Xmas Blush. You're meant to put the concealer on top as well, and powder! I'm sure there's a tutorial on their website where they show you (and encourage you to spend ££££ on their products!)

Le Queen, I also have the Clinique all about eyes concealer which I like, but the shades aren't quite right for (too pale) me! I'll have to get the highlighter pen next!

Sweet almond oil is a great help, and v cheap option to try first!

madmomma · 17/12/2011 20:08

what does the almond oil doberri?

Cankulzof · 17/12/2011 20:17

Are you anaemic? Massive cause of dark circles, appara.

Salvora · 17/12/2011 21:10

Cankulzof - I've read that lack of iron can cause dark circles, but no, I have had dark circles for like forever (I can't remember since when) and I definitely don't have any of the symptons of anemia. I think there are many causes for dark circles.

The Lancome Teint Miracle brush concealer is very good

freerangeeggs · 18/12/2011 17:16

I love Bobbi Brown's corrector and use it every day. I use my Mac concealer over the top as it matches my foundation. I also use powder on top but I hated Bobbi Brown's loose powder - really cakey. I use Mac blotting powder.

The corrector is kind of pink coloured. It counteracts the blue tones in the dark circles, whereas yellow concealers just turn them kind of green (apparently). Love it to pieces, wouldn't go out without it on.

castlesintheair · 18/12/2011 17:23

Dr Nick Lowe's dark circle cream worked so well on mine I suspected it might have bleach in it! You can buy it in Boots. About £8 iirc.

jellybeans · 19/12/2011 00:04

Only thing helped me was Aldi caffeine roller (Garnier one is rubbish) and vaseline aloe
vera.

strictlyxmas · 19/12/2011 21:27

I use Mac concealer - works a treat..
