Where to buy big warm scarves made of actual WOOL?

Any suggestions? I'm looking for something simple, long and wide, not skinny and patterned like in most high street shops, and made of at least 50% wool, preferably more. You'd think it would be easy but I am struggling!

I'm not surprised..........have you thought about knitting your own?
sometimes better, you get the colour and size you want, plus in lovely quality wool!
tbh anything half decent is going to be expensive...

Benetton?

swanfall · 15/12/2011 14:45

Ooh, Franca, I hadn't thought of Benetton, will have a look there.

MissFoodie, I had thought about that but am just being lazy. Plus, I'm freezing and want it RIGHT NOW Grin Plus, I'm currently knitting a blanket and if I start a scarf too neither of them will be finished for next winter!

Pure collection do lovely but expensive cashmere. I got a cashmere snood from there 25% off. I know they are not everyones cup of tea but it keeps my neck warm and it's very soft. Cheaper than their scarves too.

Brora do eyewateringly expensive cashmere.....it's very very lovely though.

I imagine other types of wool might be a bit scratchy round your neckConfused

if you don't mind stripy, see if Lands End are still selling any of their £35 scarves for a quid. They were yesterday.

bebemoojem · 15/12/2011 14:54

This is why I weave my own... Wink This year I'm sporting a lovely alpaca, lambs wool shaggy in brown and oranges ... I weave them up in the summer so I'll be sure to have them in the cold weather...
I saw some lovely ones in TkMaxx recently

Cos. Beautiful long chunky proper wool scarves. They have lovely cashmere scarves/wraps for £70 too.

Brora does lambswool scarves too! I have one that's 5 years old and still looks brand new...
