clense - tone - moisturise

is it really neccessary?

the only time I have ever used toner, my skin broke out in the most hideous rash.
I only use moisturiser to remove make up and soap to wash my face and a good but cheap(ish) moisturiser.

what am I missing? what does a toner really do?

i sometimes use a (v cheap!) toner in the summer, when my skin gets a bit oily, especially around the decollatage neck area

don't use it rest of the year though, but find it handy to have in the cupboard

I read few beauty blogs and the general conclusion to me seems that toner isn't need. Get a cheapish cleanser and a nice moisturiser.

I don;t get toner either. I always buy it together with the cleanser and end up not using it. Cold water closes your pores as well if that's what you're after.

It depends on what sort of skin you have. I have very oily, black head prone skin. Toner makes a huge difference to me.

I don't use toner but I always use aqueous cream to cleanse followed by rinsing with water. As aqueous cream is so cheap, I splash out a bit on the moisturiser. I haven't bothered with toner since a dermatologist told me he could see no real use for them if all the all cleanser was removed.
