Glovesinabottle

It seems like a good idea but I'm sick of shelling out for hand creams which aren't helping!

Haven't tried that, but just wanted to suggest glycerin and rosewater. It is super cheap from the chemist (as in one or two pounds) and incredibly effective. I worked in a hairdresser while at uni and it's what all the staff used to deal with sore hands.

There's a link on that page for a free sample.

it's OK - similar to Aveeno, but not a patch on Kiehl's Ultimate Hand Salve.

Thanks for the suggestions - yes was going to try the sample but also thought I'd see if anyone had tried it, and what they thought of it.

I haven't heard of the glycerin option though, that will certainly be cheaper so might give that a go first - thank you.
