It says dry clean only but I am thinking wool wash. Not had anything Boden before.

Not that particular one, but I have machine washed one that I got from a charity shop ( so the stakes weren't very high).

Not a good outcome unfortunately... The skirt shrank leaving the lining too long and the skirt fabric lost all its body.

Thanks Blooo I think that's told me then. I'm still Hmm about the price of it so not an item to take a risk with

Whereas I paid less for it thanthe cleaning bill would have been!

I do tend to ignore dry clean only tags on all sorts of materials but tend to be extra careful with wool

I just washed my jigsaw pure wool July on the hand wash setting and it's fine.

I just washed my jigsaw pure wool KILT on the hand wash setting and it's fine.

Heleninahandcart · 15/12/2011 20:17

Thanks Lumin I usually risk it, but as it's my first Boden item and I seem to wear it a lot, I didn't want to mess with it. Useful to know about Jigsaw now though Grin

if you are going to give machine washing a try, wash it on cold. wool/hand wash setting with be 30 degrees, what you want is just cold. if your machine doesn't have a cold setting, put it in on a rinse cycle with some detergent, then rinse again to rinse the soap out. no heat whatsoever. it's going to be a risk, and i can't guarantee no shrinkage but i've washed both wool and silk in the machine.

(am a textile designer so know a little about fabrics)

I would never wash a tweed wool skirt. Ever.

It is likely to shrink. or the lining will shrink and not the skirt.

TBH unless it's stained or you have been sitting on filthy buses or tubes for months, it shouldn't need washing/cleaning at all .
