If cool-toned blonde, a slightly blue red. Chanel Coco Rouge Legende and Orchidee look red on me, and I cannot go stronger without looking washed out. You can also swatch them an look for corresponding shades in cheaper ranges (Max Factor is pretty dependable).

There are other ranges other than the nude one, the colour is a pure red iirc.

Mac Russian Red is the best I've got. Really full on red, excellent staying power, doesn't smell weird either (I'm looking at you Dior).

Mac's Ruby Woo is excellent too. It's a blue based red so makes teeth look really white.

I would say rivoli is more reddy/brown, the blue/red in my book is paris.

There's a good bright red Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick which goes well with my pasty face and blonde hair. Or have I gone too down-market there?

Clinique do a clear red gloss which really covers without being heavy. It is lovely on pale skin
