How can I un-static my jumper dress?

I have a cheap acrylic jumper dress that is very staticy and clingy which is not very flattering. I like the dress so how can I get rid of the static? It has just been washed and air dried on an airer, no tumble drying.

A slip? Full length or half?

Put handcream on your hands and then rub your tights. Alternatively wear a slip.

Hairspray works. Spray it on your tights and the inside of the dress. Don't go near any naked flames though .

Rub a wire coathanger over it. Problem is mine always end up static when I am out and about and of the many things I carry around with me a metal coathanger tends not to be one of them...
