Help: Need to find and evening drss for work's do..only worked there a week and have nothing to wear

It's my work's conference next week which culminates in a gala dinner. Just found out it's black tie which means I have to find an evening dress. Don;t want anything revealing but want to look elegant. Don't like long dresses but is it ok to do a 3/4 length?

Any ideas? Don;t want to spend more than £100.

Am a size 10 at the bottom (no hips) and 34d boobs

Coast have some gorgeous stuff in atm, Samia Ghadie from Corrie was wearing a stunning purple evening dress from there, and it was 3/4 length. I'll see if I can find a link.

Malorytowers - they're not big - just out of proportion!

There were lots of party dresses in the sales last week (in Reading at least!). Debenhams is a good bet.

I ahve no self-confidence when it comes to my appearance . But I want to look elegant

I like the second one, the £45 quid one better. I think that assymetric hems somehow look a bit informal. Don't worry about too plain - you can always dress up with necklace/shrug/wrap etc

Thanks

Am at work off Oxford Street tomorrow so will go to Debenhams in lunch break and try it. Dh willmoan though if it shows any cleavage!!!

The £45 is cowl neck, and they tend to be quite subtle, not in yer face with cleavage.

galaxy · 09/01/2006 22:12

Will let you know how I get on Thanks again x

Oh dear - disaster. I tried 3 on in Debenhams and hated them all. Went into Karen Millen, Coast, Monsoon and House of Fraser and saw nothing I liked. Sack cloth and ashes methinks

Maybe you could opt for black velvet trousers and sparkly top?
