Vintage and antique charms

I really love little charms especially the bronze/brass looking vintage charms, I own a few pieces and wore one on my necklace the other day, and one of my friends said that it looked cheap and horrible. Where can I buy vintage looking charms, not silver because there everywhere, just too common for me, or am I living in the past wearing them.

You can wear whatever you like - your friend sounds very rude.

I've seen trays of charms in second hand jewellers, they are probably mostly silver but you might get lucky.

There's a site here

and this site has some bronze ones - you'll need to click through the pages to find them.

quite a few sites came up when I googled vintage charms.

Thank you kurri kurri for that.

I'm not a fan of shiny silver either or mass produced jewellery and I found Eclectic shock, they have a website and FB where the owner buys vintage jewels and makes them into pieces or you can give her bits and pieces out of your treasured jewellery box to make into something unique and special to you.

Hello, I'm a vintage dealer :) and i love interesting charms.
Nothing wrong with silver charms, the older they are the less shiny they will be and they can look lovely.

I would second the independent jewellers vote, anywhere that deals with 2nd hand jewellery really.

I wouldn't advise buying 'modern vintage' looking charms as you'll pay over the odds and they're just not worth anything.
