140 denier all the way! Black or coloured (dark red if with black dress maybe?) No sheen. Tesco do pairs for £4 - nice and soft and very thick.

SeeLyon · 12/12/2011 11:53

oh god my legs arent that bad! do 140 denier even exist?!

I'm not sure but that's what the packet says and they are the thickest non-cottony tights I've had :)

louloubellamozzarella · 12/12/2011 12:18

Thick as in dark colour but they don't look 'thick' IYSWIM? They give a lovely opaque look without adding bulk.

noddyholder · 12/12/2011 12:30

Shiny and not too thick 60 enough

SimoneD · 12/12/2011 12:34

Jasper Conran do lovely ones in Debenhams. Really good dark colour, silky and slightly shiny. Ive had loads of compliments when I wear them.

noddyholder · 12/12/2011 13:18

Thanks simone i really need some new black ones

FluffyMummy123 · 12/12/2011 13:19

ooh will look at debs

SimoneD · 12/12/2011 15:33

Theyre really nice. Think they are about £8

monkeysmama · 12/12/2011 20:23

Falke opaques are beautiful and unlike most tights they fit properly. I wear a xl in most tights to get the right length & waist fit but only need medium in Falke. I'm a 12. Debenhams have them in sale atm. They last forever too.

tethersjinglebellend · 12/12/2011 20:29

If this is for your christmas party dress, don't do shiny. Matt 60 denier with suede shoes will do it.

FluffyMummy123 · 12/12/2011 21:18

Was running out if time today. For marks silky .. Sonething. 40 denier

FluffyMummy123 · 12/12/2011 21:18

Yes monkeys. Falkegood I hear but am dreadful klutz with tights

noddyholder · 13/12/2011 06:51

Falke are v strong weave and really last. Didn,t know debenhams did them.

theseventhdwarf · 13/12/2011 08:25

woolford - they do a pair of deepest black silky ones with seam up the back - they are gorgeous - i have them nearly 2 yrs now - (but they cost so much that i m so precious about them when i do wear them i really mind them and hand wash only ) but i really do get compliments on them and people asking when i got them etc when i wear them,
if they were for a spesh occasion i d definitely recommend them ( i think when i got them was for a winter wedding )
or if you hang about and see them in sale anywhere then go for them - i think wolford have patented the look of them cos i did try see if there were cheaper alternatives recently.

polyhymnia · 13/12/2011 15:40

Have some excellent black Falke ones and would love to wear them to a party on Sun. night with a nice dress. But in the suburb where I live I'm not sure anyone would really know it was a good thing, let alone normal, to wear opaques with partyish dresses and would think I'd left my daytime 'casual' tights on!!

So may submit to the famous nude - have some OK Autograph 10 denier ones stashed away.

devonshireduckling · 13/12/2011 16:01

I have some lovely velvety wolfords, I would say no shine looks better (eg look at pics of Kate Middleton in her zara dress and opaques - would have been so much nicer if non-shiney imho).
