I have below shoulder length straight, fine hair and now it's colder it gets really static if I wear hats or hood...have tried Camera Ready leave-in spray which goes on as you blow dry, but it doesn't do much. Anyone have any tips for a good anti-static product that doesn't cost the earth and will stop me looking like I have just stuck my finger in an electrical socket? Thank you :)

Try changing your shampoo - I used to use pantene smooth & sleek on my fine very long hair and had terrible static (& electric shocks from everything) stopped using it and it's never been as bad since.

I think its not so much what shampoo I am wearing more what clothes I am wearing. Natural fibres are best and where possible leaving them to dry outside in the wind. Some jumpers that are acyrlic are the worst, drive me mad with the static and because my hair is longer it touches the clothes which is why I were it up a lot. God I sound a bit OCD but I hate static too. I also wash combs in cold water.

that's actually very true kerstina...fleecy stuff being an effing nightmare!

I change my shampoo every now and then to avoid build up. Even if you've used the same stuff for ages they may have changed the formula slightly which would make a difference. I'm using John Freda at the moment. My hair errs towards very dry so I try not to wash it too much as this makes it worse and more static.
