Help! home dye job looks too much like home dye job!

I am naturally red, but have always (home) dyed blonde. Last night I decided to go red and used a Feria. Unfortunately my roots look blonde, there's a blonde patch at the back and the rest is REALLY red. Ginger, Bree Van de Kamp red. That's kind of the result/colour I wanted, but I've got patchy bits.

I know home dye jobs are a cheapskate way out etc but salon prices are out of my reach.

Anyone got any suggestions to even things out a bit? Can I dye again so soon? or use a semi? Or is there a shampoo that kind of tones it down? I'm going out tomorrow and I don't want people to be thinking "bad dye job over there!"

Is your hair especially long and/or thick? You probably need two bottles of colourant. Your hair should be ok with another colour as long as you don't make a habit of it. I'd definitely dye it again if I were in your situation.

No, it's very fine and just below chin length. I was thinking I might dye it a mid/reddish brown all over to take the alarming ginger bits out at the ends!

If you love the colour I would repeat. Get help to apply colour to the areas you missed first. You need good light, a good friend and a tint brush Leave for the first half - 3 quarters of the development time. Then apply rest if product to rest of hair and comb through. Rinse etc as normal.

Thank you sprinkles. I will try that! I'm so grateful. I like my alarmingly red hair but I just wish it was the same colour all over!
