Neither Style nor Beauty but... Lands End Squall colours

Just tried posting this and lost it, so briefly:

Am fat and cold and need warm, waterproof winter coat. Lands End Stadium Squall looks my best bet but which colour? I am a fair-skinned, rosy cheeked Celt with blondish hair.

Black - makes me look dug up these days.
Navy - does suit me but fairly dull. Will it depress me having to wear it every day til March?
Aubergine/purple - I suit royal purple but nothing near maroon or burgundy. It looks purple online but very maroon in the brochure.
Red - like it but would look (even more) massive and fear people would try to post letters in me.

Why don't they do brown? Or a nice weird green.

What shall I do?

I just ordered this craghoppers coat here in brown which looks good if it's a brown coat you're looking for. Def not a fashion statement but tis only for walking the dogs etc! From your colour choices, i'd say navy I suppose.

Get the colour that ellan linked to. It's a dark purpley/navy but bright IYSWIM - no dark red tones. If you've been reading the legenday thread....the aquastop properties of the Haddenbury appear to a better bet the the LE Squall.

Update - ordered the Haddenbury in brown but it makes me look like a sack of potatoes. Not just 'unflattering but practical', but makes me look like I've totally given up. Gah. Is a nice coat for the money though, just not on me.

Waiting to see what happens to the LE squall in the sales.
