Red lipgloss would make your lips look fuller. If I wear lipstick it's usually matte, as My lips are already exploding.

Poppy King Medieval. Is sheer but still packs a punch.

I think Channel do great lipsticks for pale skin, I wear number 58 and am pale/ dark haired. It's quite expensive so you should find a counter and try before you buy.

I also have pale skin and thin lips. Wore Revlon Red lipstick to our office party last night with red lipgloss over the top and got LOADs of compliments Blush. I don't normally wear make up so it was quite a contrast!

Spooklegeek · 09/12/2011 17:40

Verso, was that Revlon shade 006 "Really Red" ? Have searched on ebay & am confused! Thanks.

TapselteerieO · 09/12/2011 20:51

I always wore Revlon wine No.3, with lip balm and sometimes another colour over the top, I think it looks good - never see it in the shops these days so I can't get that rich dark colour.

I have pale skin and use flirt alert by Benefit. I have just loaded a pic of me wearing it onto my mn profile if you want to check the colour. It should be the top photo

I bought Revlon red but am too chicken to wear it! Not the really red shade though - will have a look at the number.
Havingkittens recommended Parisian red by Clinique (which I bought on ebay) and is great. For some reason, it doesn't seem so full on because it's from the buttershine range and therefore glossy. I do have to wear it with a nude reverse lipliner (from Art Deco)to stop it spreading.

ooh I'll have to check. I thought it just said "Revlon Red" on the end...

LesserOfTwoWeevils · 13/12/2011 00:37

Revlon Red is the name of a specific Revlon colour, so it might have.

I have pale skin and I find most red lipsticks suit me. The one I have now is a Mac one, can't remember the name and it's worn off the bottom!

Red lipstick is fab on everyone, as long as it is the perfect shade.

As a starting point, try on a blue based red and a yellow based brick red and see which suits you. I have dark eyes and hair and pale skin and suit a brick red, which is often harder to find than a blueish red.

Havingkittens · 13/12/2011 14:00

Hopefully MAC's Dubonnet lipstick is a good brick red, if they still do it. Failing that Viva Glam I is also nice.

If you have thin lips then something with a bit of sheen to it is best as it gives a more plump look. If you can find a red with shimmer in it, so much the better, especially with a little clear gloss on top. I recommend using a lip liner with red lipstick, especially if you have thin lips as darker lipstick really needs to be evenly applied.

Verso · 14/12/2011 08:32

Yes - I checked and it was definitely "Revlon Red". I put lipgloss (also red) over the top, because my lips are so thin - agree with havingkittens there as it really helped.

Verso · 14/12/2011 08:33

Might even be brave and wear it again on Christmas day! Xmas Smile

RamblingRosa · 14/12/2011 08:52

I agree that red lippy on pale skin is lovely. Make sure it's a good bright red though. Anything too dark or wine coloured will look a bit goth (not that there's anything wrong with goth if that's the look you're aiming for!).

Sali Hughes in the Guardian had some good recommendations recently here.

If you're not ready for full on red, you could try something like Bobbi Brown Nude which is surprisingly bright if you've got pale skin. I've got a Bobbi Brown one called "Rose" which looks like quite a neutral pinky colour in the tube but if I've got a couple of layers of it on it can look like quite a bright brick red.
