isn't it a little weird? surely she has designers begging to give her stuff.

Guess she's trying to keep it real and be the peoples' princess during these recessionary times. I don't love her style tbh, think it's a bit dull.

Alargeglassofred · 08/12/2011 21:32

She can't win! If she accepts free stuff will be accused of freeloading.... If she wears high street people will ask if it's a bit weird!!

VivaLeBeaver · 08/12/2011 21:32

She doesn't shop in new look or primark though does she? Reiss isn't your average high st store.

connect4 · 08/12/2011 21:32

She might actually like high street clothes, maybe she doesn't want to get embroiled into this designer rubbish. But whatever the reason, she always looks good,

helpmabob · 08/12/2011 21:33

Wow do people really give a shit about this type of thing

EdithWeston · 08/12/2011 21:34

It's not weird (Diana POW did it occasionally too), and as the Royal Family is reputed to be very frugal generally, it's probably a signthat she's fitting in.

suebfg · 08/12/2011 21:34

I admire her for wearing clothes from the high street. I think she's setting a good example to younger girls who may aspire to be like her i.e. you don't need designer labels to look good.

winterfox · 08/12/2011 21:35

don't really give a shit just wondering really

I totally agree, good for her. We would all complain if she wore massively expensive stuff all the time. I feel sorry for her, she can't win. I think she looks great.

I think she's comfortable with a certain style that she knows vain shops are good at.she's within her comfort zone.

I think shell no doubt become more designery as she gets older and more into the royal thing, but at the moment shes a young woman with a sense of style she likes and is used to.

I think she always looks lovely.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 09/12/2011 05:23

What would be weird was if she took all the designers up on their free stuff.

Kate is massively switched on about all of this and very clued in as to how things look. She knows exactly how it would be perceived if she was swanning around in expensive, free stuff.

To be honest, I don't even think you need to be all that switched on to know exactly how it would look ... do you? Hmm

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/12/2011 05:51

Not all her stuff is high street either - that mulberry shirt dress was £££ and all her evening dresses appear to be designer.

I think she's just mixing it up really as most stylish people do and agree she'll wear more designer as time progresses.

vjg13 · 09/12/2011 07:45

I think it's a PR strategy rather than a fashion one. The oddest thing is women rushing to buy the dresses afterwards.

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/12/2011 07:49

Yes I don't get that at all VJG - in fact its really put me off certain designers like Issa.
