Okay! I'm looking for an outfit to do me Christmas Day (a big family affair at SILs) and an afternoon party type thing we're hosting before Christmas. I have a small baby and no time to go to the shops and am also feeling quite frumpy and low in confidence having spent the last 6 months covered in baby sick in jeans and jumpers and the 6 months before that in the only 2 maternity outfits that fitted me. I have not been to proper shops for ages, so have no idea what's current and don't want to look desperate.

I'm 35, tall, olive skin, dark hair and eyes and a size 8-10. Pre-baby I had completely flat chest but now have D cups that I don't know what to do with and a bit of a flappy stomach. I loved this as I have chunky purple courts which I though would have looked nice with grey tights but I was too late.. I don't tend to do full on glamour, so would be looking for a dress like this or would consider a semi-smart top I could wear with skinny jeans (dare I say a sequin jumper? Or is that too naff?).

All help welcomed!

For a jeans look, how about gold with a black blouse or jumper?

Will have a think about dresses.

Oh, thanks tethers. I do like but am worried am a bit too old countryside to carry of gold trews. Always anxious I'll look like am trying too hard.. Plus BIL is bringing his new, glamorous girlfriend from London who is the same age as me but no doubt will look effortlessly chic Xmas Envy

I like the shape of this hideous patterned one if there was something similar out there?

let me try that second one again...

red/leopard

abigboydidit · 08/12/2011 20:44

Am loving the leopard one.. In fact have ordered it and this bird print one of the same shape. If I was brave enough to go with the leopard one, how would I accessorise it to play it down slightly for the afternoon do?

Thanks tethers

X-posted with Hatescolds there. Warehouse one is lovely. Am off to measure a frock to check length as it looks a bit on the short side if I'm spending the day bending over to pick up/put down DS and give myself time to justify buying at least 3 dresses & possibly a top too as a result of this thread

I'd put black opaque tights, flat black boots and a little black wrap cardi over the leopard print one to play it down. It's lovely!

Ooooh! Am all excited about my frocks. I saw these shoes in the sale (since am ordering anyways, ahem...) and thought they might be a nice dressy option? Not usually that keen on patent but they're cheap and am on a shopping frenzy now all my shoes getting wrecked from scuffing around the floor after DS so could almost be considered practical??
