Rose Gold Or Sterling Silver

My mum is a jewellery lover, me on the other hand, is not a fan of jewellery.
For christmas I want to get her a nice necklace or bracelet. Which is nicer and classier, rose gold or sterling silver, even gold plated is ok. My budget is around £100 no more. Thanks in advance.

Depend on her skin tone, some people look better in gold, other in silver a few are equally flattered by both. I'd just go with whichever she normally wears TBH.

HettyAmaretti · 08/12/2011 14:01

Depends

connect4 · 08/12/2011 14:08

She is quite pale. She wears alot of sterling silver, I think rose gold somehow looks quite tacky, I dunno does it?

I'd go with her own preference really. Gold looks tacky on me but I have friends that it really suits.

kerstina · 08/12/2011 19:34

Her personal choice .I prefer silver think it looks much better and suits the clothes I wear. Would always choose it over gold.

MissFoodie · 08/12/2011 20:50

does she like big statement pieces? or something delicate?

HugosGoatee · 08/12/2011 20:53

You need to get her into a conversation about it subtly - Rose gold is beautiful on pale skin, but it's a Marmite thing so don't buy her something without checking. Silver is your safe bet. What kind of thing does she usually wear?

connect4 · 08/12/2011 21:04

Thanks, she buys stuff from qvc, like diamonique and rose gold jewellery, I personally like silver aswell. She doesn't really like gemstone jewellery, like lola rose that much. She doesn't spend more than about £50 a piece ( I think) so nothing statement I don't think. I was wandering more on any good websites really, so that I can check em out.

here you go: here there are some rose gold plated necklaces and bangles with cz in them, there is also a nice necklace in sterling silver called together forever, but may be too simple?

connect4 · 08/12/2011 21:28

Thank you foodie I love the marrakesh bib necklace, although I think it might be abit extravangant for mother. But they have some lovely bracelets for a good price.

when you say extravagant, do you mean you think she'd prefer something simpler? or that you want to spend less?
what about eternity necklace? it's sterling silver or there's one called Beatrice which is pink rose plated

HettyAmaretti · 09/12/2011 07:53

MNers are always recommending alex munroe , maybe worth a look.

starfishmummy · 09/12/2011 08:14

I don't like modern rose gold - it just doesn't look right, so I'd rather have silver.
On the other hand if I was offered the choice of antique rose gold, which is somehow mellower, then I would go for that!

connect4 · 09/12/2011 08:51

foodie Hi. She would prefer something simple tbh, that would go with any outfit, I think sterling silver would be my best bet.
starfish antique rose gold sounds nice.

I see what you mean, the eternity necklace might be your best bet then, it's sterling silver with a bit of sparkle

Iloveshoes001 · 09/12/2011 20:43

I get all my silver from Corazon Latino they have lots of nice stuff under £100 if that's any use.
