what's the best thing to disguise them? Is Touche Eclat really worth the £25?

I have the same problem. I took myself to a Bobbi Brown counter and they showed me their corrector which you use under a concealer. It's like magic! Thoroughly recommend.

I have dark shadows as well and am always looking for something to get rid of them.

I recently started using Clinique All About Eyes cream which helps to reduce them, completely gets rid of puffiness and makes the eyes look fresher but personally I definitely still need to use a concealer with it. I use Body Shop lightening touch which is a similar sort of thing to Touche Eclat, same brush pen format. It is £14, so quite a bit cheaper than YSL. It is pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's perfect.

I've also heard really good things about the Bobbi Brown corrector + concealer. Would be keen to try it but there's no Bobbi Brown counter in my town and I would prefer to get matched up and have a quick chat about it rather than just order online!

I think Touche Eclait better for drawing along hollow eye sockets to 'bring ' them out

You need an industrial strength concealer and the triangle technique. Benefit Boing is god and I've heard good things about Estee lauder Double Wear concealer

Someone once linked to a youtube tutorial on applying under eye make up which was very interesting. The woman drew a triangle under her eye, with a straight line going from the inner corner and down the sides of her nose IYSWIM, rather than just applying to the actual shadows. Works quite well, if someone else can remember the link. Was an American woman.

Thats the triangle method!!

I think BB is better than Touche Eclat having used both. TE tends to be a bit too light reflecting and doesn't stay put either.

tutorial . I was sceptical but tried it with Bobbi Brown corrector (for triangle) then her Creamy concealer blended over. Great for a night out, but I find BB concealer creases too much for daytime use. I like MAC moisture cover for day (sometimes layered over BB corrector (which doesn't crease oddly enough), and I have VERY dark pigmentation under my eyes.

TE is more of a highlighter IMO. No real coverage but OK if your circles aren't that bag.

Bad oops.
