How do you store your make-up?

I'm struggling with how to store and organise my make-up and would welcome any advice. I've recently started using 'Bare Escentuals' (haven't we all!?!) and all the little tubs and brushes are in their original box on my dressing table. Do any of you have an attractive way of storing your stuff - I don't particularly want to put it away every day - which keeps it neat and tidy? My dh has said that he'll buy me something for Xmas - up to £50. TIA.

I'm lucky to have an ensuite so half goes into the bathroom cabinet- bottles of foundation- and recently I bought something from John Lewis bathroom dept- it's white plastic box with holes in it- no lid- and a metal handle. it's about half the size of an a shoe box. I keep it on a shelf.

before that I had a kind of perspex vanity /make up box from M&S.
Have you thought about wicker boxes, or clear perspex/acrylic boxes from Muji?

Thanks, AG. I'll have a browse of their websites.

Same as Ameliagrey. I have this from Muji on the windowsill of our ensuite with all my everyday essentials (Lily Lolo foundation, kabuki brush, powder on top, concealer, mascara, gel eyeliner and various pots of mineral eyeshadows on bottom). Next to that sits zip up make up bag with all my other crap makeup.

Think it works for me as I can see and grab my essentials so I don't have to rummage around first thing and am presentable in 5 minutes! If I have more time (or the inclination) I can then root around in the bag for extra bits.

X post huggiemonster!

I bought a proper make up artist box like the one Jcee linked to.

It is probably one of the best things I have ever bhought, make up is so organized, can fit creams, perfume, all sorts in... Lasts ages too, rather than buying crappy make up bags every 6 months.

I have a make up box like the one above for travel

and an 8 drawer storage unit from Staples in the bathroom..... and it's full

AlpinePony · 08/12/2011 09:13

I just took delivery yesterday of one like jcee linked to and love it already. Before that I had it spread over 3/4 baskets in the bathroom. Yesterday whilst filling the box I found loads of stuff I'd forgotten about.

Just got in and am delighted to read all your thoughts. Many thanks.
