My daughter is getting married next year, I have seen a dress that I love but problem is it's the same colour of dresses the bridesmaids will be wearing, is this okay or should the mother wear something coordinating with them.

Why don't you ask your daughter? Some people are not fussed about these things and some are. The best thing to avoid any awkwardness is just check.

She has no problem with it and likes the dress, I just wondered what other's thought of it

I reckon your daughter's opinion is the only one that counts. But if you want another perspective, a friend of mine got married and her SIL, who wasn't a bridesmaid bought a dress the same colour as the BMs and it looked a bit strange, like she was trying to get in on the act or was miffed not to have been asked and just bought a dress anyway. BUT, the dress she bought was a bridemaid's dress from Debenhams so it did look a bit that way. Also, I'm not sure people would assume that of you, being her mum.

I guess if you have a big hat then you will stand out more so you'll still look different?
