Does gold plated jewellery look cheap?

I can't really afford the real thing, so does gold plated stuff look cheap and tacky?

only if it's done cheaply - I sell Stella & Dot in my spare time and a lot of their stuff is gold plated, it definitely doesn't look cheap, but then again, it's not that cheap to buy.

hhmmm I think you might be hard pushed at that price, you would barely be able to get something in silver for £25.....sorry
I can't even recommend anything from S&D as the cheapest bracelet is £30 and is not gold plated!

I have some lovely gold plated bracelets from etsy (a couple of US sellers who have a massive following) for about £30 or just under. Looks very much like the real thing and the plating is holding up perfectly under daily use. So perhaps have a look on there (they can also customise to make them bigger/smaller).

before I forget, I also have some pieces by Alex Monroe (baby bee necklace, dragonfly necklace and a charm bracelet - all gold plated). Would be worth you having a look? Out of your price range perhaps but shows you what can be done with gold plate in the right hands!

If you have any vintage fairs in your area they can be a treasure trove of well priced costume jewellery.
For £25 on the high street you would be lucky to get any change from accessorize

Gold plated doesn't have to look cheap, I love alex monroe stuff, and most of his jewellery is gold plated.
