Shellac help please

I had this done last Tuesday. On Thursday one nail's colour just peeled off so I went back on Friday and it was done again. 3 more have done the same. The polish isn't chipping, it just bubbles and then peels right off.

I thought it was supposed to be pretty much fool proof for 2 weeks but I don't know if I should go back again.

I have had shellac done and it did peel after a few days. But I am very heavy on manicures. I have also had the OPI axium done which is much better and does last 2 weeks. But it is more expensive.

I would say that perhaps it didnt take to your nails or that the salon didnt apply it properly.

I was also told that depending on what sort of medications you take it can affect hw well the varnish stays on your fingers. SOunds barmy but a few salons have told me this.

hhmm not sure, I used to have bio gel and now have artistic colour gloss (same as shellac) and never have a problem. Did they apply a ph prep and a base before colour? and cure for 2 mins each layer?

it should definitely last perfectly for at least a week, I would complain!

if you are someone that is heavy on the hand then I would suggest colour gel (eg bio gel, cal gel) rather than a hybrid (shellac)

Alternatively, ask them to apply a gel clear base (gel builder) and then the colour on top

Yes, the undercoat went on and then 2 coats and then top coat all cured under the lamp. I might go back to calgel. Had it done once but preferred Shellac as it is shiney!

cal gel should also be shiny, mine always was!
make sure they cure the top coat for 2 mins

The nail tech has been doing it wrong imo. I prefer to just absolutely wreck my nails with acrylic, running a house and four kids needs the hardcore stuff :)

Yes you should go back, they're supposed to be guaranteed for two weeks, a few days doesn't cut it. I've been back when the white tips of my nails have developed little black holes. They'd prefer you went back to them to rectify the problem than walk away vowing to never go back there and then telling all your friends they're rubbish.

Sounds to me as if they are not curing it properly are they using the CND lamp? In my experience its the only one that cures shellac properly

I have had shellac and have the bendiest nails ever....apart from breaking one nail which caused a chip mine lasted the full two weeks.

It does sound like an application problem to me. My nail tech lady had a lot of bother with supply of shellac, demand was through the roof, and she felt that some supplies were substandard.

And as others have said, they generally prefer you to go back for a resolution rather than moan and not go back.
