noddyholder · 05/12/2011 10:44

The first one the second is a bit scruffy and teenage. I really like teh asos one

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 10:44

a bit hippy?

OP posts:
noddyholder · 05/12/2011 10:45

step away from joe browns!

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 10:49

problem is i like scruffy. think the first one is a bit smart for me. i'd be uncomfortable.

i want to wear jeans but can't.

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 10:50

if i were to go for trousers and top where do i start?

OP posts:
noddyholder · 05/12/2011 11:07

Tight black skinnies maybe velvet stretchy? (zara) And a pretty top and heels.

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 11:09

too fat for anything called skinnies.

and no heels. would fall off and hurt someone.

Depends on the sort of do it is. If its not formal and you're a bit of a hippy, go for the second Joe Browns one. Don't go trendy and dressy if its not 'you'.

tethersjinglebellend · 05/12/2011 17:24

Good lord woman, not even Mama Cass herself would be seen dead in either of those Joe Brown monstrosities.

Here's what you should do:

  1. Buy the asos dress at once, it is beautiful
  2. Buy some black opaques. Or red, if you fancy.
  3. Buy a gold belt like this
  4. Wear the wonderful outfit and have fun.
CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 17:50

can a fat girl wear red tights??????? Shock

it's not 'formal' as such. i'm sure some of them will be wearing posh frocks and heels but I won't be.

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 17:51

anything that needs to describe itself as 'flattering' invariably isn't. take tethers' advice, you will look great.

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 17:54

size 18/20 and 5.7. large. and scruffy. and hippy.

i actually don't know why i'm going. apart from a night off in a nice hotel room, alone.......

OP posts:
CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 17:55

i think the ASOS one might be a bit snug.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 05/12/2011 17:55

I love the asos dress might get it! the belt is lovely!

tethersjinglebellend · 05/12/2011 18:20

Right, it's 1 all- you hate the belt and I hate Joe Browns.

Let's start from scratch... What's your budget?

Oh, and what shoes will you be wearing?

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 18:28

oh god, i'll need shoes too. for square feet with no heel.

budget as small as possible.

OP posts:
HotBurrito1 · 05/12/2011 18:40

Limejelly · 05/12/2011 18:44

The floral one is nice HotBurrito!

tethersjinglebellend · 05/12/2011 18:52

No one will shoot you if you wear jeans.

How about a less dressy dress? Something a bit less structured?
