sonicare electric toothbrushes ...

I'm going to get myself a sonicare toothbrush as the prices seem to have come down all over the place and I really want to embark on a self-improvement phase, but I'm having trouble distinguishing the toothbrushes

I've been thinking about this one the Phillips HX6511/50 Sonicare EasyClean at £35ish
or this philips sonicare healthy white deluxe which is much less than half price deal at £47.99 at Boots.
I'm not entirely clear on the whitening nature of the second one ... but it does seem a good deal with £70+ off.

Is there much of a difference between them? Have you good/bad experiences with sonicare?

Don't know about these specific products, but I think an electric toothbrush is one of the best beauty 'investments' you can make. No tooth trouble at all in the 7 yrs since I got one, wish they're been around when I was a child, I would have a lot less fillings! (As indeed my DC have hardly any!)

I love Sonicare toothbrushes - ds's won one each (in a Mumsnet competition ) a couple of years ago and I've coveted one ever since. Bought one a couple of weeks ago on Amazon - it was only £20 down from around £44 I think and it's fab. So I don't think it matters much about the model - my teeth feel tons cleaner and sparklier.

I have the one in your second link - the healthy white delux one and it is very good. It hasn't made my teeth two shades whiter though so probably not worth paying extra for that feature { it just brushes your teeth for a bit longer on that function as far as I can tell }. It lasts a long time between charges which is good - much longer than dh's Braun toothbrush does.

I hate my sonicare. I've had terrible gingivitis since pregnant and I really though the sonicare would help. After couple of months it hasn't. So have been using DHs Braun and after 3 days my gums are fine. The braun is also on offer at boots.

Dottydot, thanks for the vote of confidence, I'll have a look at amazon too.

winetimeisfinetime I don't know much about electric toothbrushes and find the price differences between the different sonicares very confusing. If the whitening one only has a longer cleaning programme then perhaps the extra money isn't really warranted ... I shall do more research.

sprinkles77 my gums also took a battering during pregnancies so I'll look at Braun too

I love my Sonicare, its one of the best things I have ever bought.

If I ever go away and take a normal toothbrush my teeth still feel dirty even when I brush for ages. Nothing cleans them like a Sonicare.

I recently bought the oral b triumph 5000 which is reduced from £179 to £75 in argos at the moment. I have waited months for this model to be reudced in price as my dentist said he felt it was the best one. It is the first time I have used an electric toothbrush and the difference is amazing - teeth feel so much cleaner and smoother, its almost as good as having a session with my dental hygenist.
