swimwear advice...

O help me wise MN style and beauty.

I have a nasty old swimsuit that has survived 15 years of torture without going see through, until I hopped out the swimming pool during the week with DD and heard the biggest mahoosive rip, much shame and loss of dignity as I headed for the changing rooms with DD in my arms and my arse hanging out my swimsuit.

So this means I have to buy a new one or that's the end of swimming with DD [the only guarenteed way of getting her to nap for 2 hours].

My problem is I am pear shaped. 34J but a size 20/22 on my hips, with thunder thighs. I have ordered a few from bravissimo, they've all had to be returned as can't get them over my thighs and hips. I've always avoided bikninis as I want something that will hold my jelly belly in. Tankinis always roll up to my narrowest point, exposing the jelly belly.

And it's the wrong season to shop for swimwear. It's bad enough shopping for jeans and clothes normally. Any advice would be appreciated.

Swim 2/3x a week and i'll only wear speedo endurance. Maybe not 100% sexy but if you are there to swim lengths it won't let you down. The endurance bit is extra and basically means bulletproof/lasts for ages. Don't forget your hat aswell!! Hair will thank you for it. x

How about something like this?

Trixxie89 · 02/12/2011 23:47

What about one of these Kellestar? Legsuit I have one of them and it's really comfy and it hides a multitude of sins Xmas Grin Or I use a swimsuit and board shorts.

My old suit was a speedo, but the sizing is really quite small now, not generous enough for me.

I'm not so worried about skirts or shorts on a swimsuit, more something that will fit on the hips and at the chest.

A size 20/22 swimsuit will fit at the hip but is too big at the chest, the boob shelf not even getting any where near my ribs to offer any support and the straps usually fall off.

The one I linked to did not have a shelf bra but cups. I reckon you're gonna have to go to a shop if you want a one piece that will fit both up top and your hips. I always have to try them on. Department stores usually have a few even at this time of year. All the best Xmas Smile
