Non-puffy coat for DS8 who's been called names at school

Has anyone got/seen a nice non-puffy coat for 8 year old boys, he's specified black, brown or army colours Xmas Smile although would probably have other colours as long as they weren't girly or babyish.

He has got a coat but one boy has been calling him fatty when he was wearing it, so he won't wear anything now, I have promised him I will find him something non-puffy and a bit trendy but to be honest I haven't got a clue Xmas Confused

I did find this www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Boys-Coats-Jackets/25047-NAV/Boys-Navy-Fleece-Lined-Anorak.html but they've only got it in red stars which I don't think he'd like, but something similar would be good.

some gorgeous boys' coats here: John Lewis

I know Barbour is very trendy this year, but it might be a bit too trendy?

PromiseFalls · 02/12/2011 10:57

thanks world I'm looking now, one of those trespass ones might do it. (Younger son would love the red one but he doesn't actually need a new coat), maybe I will pop into some of the outdoor type shops in town with him and try some on.

I think it didn't help that I bought him and his 4 year old brother the same coat each for school, I need to start making sure they've got different clothes now DS is getting older.

Have you looked a Lands end boys outerwear? I don't know if it is trendy, but they make excellent jackets.

thanks pann, adds H&M to list for tommorrow, I wouldn't have thought of looking in there.

I did take him shopping on weds when he was off school, but I took him in M&S, BHS and matalan, he wasn't really impressed Xmas Grin

That's a good choice promisefalls. My dd has the girls squall jacket from last year and it is excellent. I'm just waiting for their sales(don't know when) to buy another one this year.
They are also very good with exchanges/returns if you/your son are not happy with it.

GooKingWenceslas · 02/12/2011 11:43

DS has got one from H&M :)

iphonedrone · 02/12/2011 11:47

H&M have got a lovely coat in at the moment, quite a few boys at DS school sporting it

but in black

meltedchocolate · 02/12/2011 11:49

Why not get him a superdry coat or something like that? I would cringe wearing the jacket you posted when I was 8 OP

meltedchocolate · 02/12/2011 11:50

Ok they don't do kids superdry, hang on, I search!

meltedchocolate · 02/12/2011 11:58

In black?

teta · 02/12/2011 12:11

Tk Maxx.I have just got 2 trespass coats for ds's in 'cool 'colours according to my 8 year old for 15 and 25 pounds.

PromiseFalls · 02/12/2011 12:13

You are right melted I am really not getting this right, yours all look much better, his original coat was from next.

All these suggestions have been great, I think I will have a good look in H&M, all the clothes look good and a bit more suitable than what I have been buying, (mainly M&S and next).
